Going into city line deli for the first time in 35 years this place has a special place in my heart because this is one of the first jobs I ever had when I was a kid from 1983 to 1986and met my best friend for life there. I certainly didn’t know what to expect when I walked in having such fond memories. I hope it hadn’t changed too much when I walked in that feeling of the 80s came back a little bit, there were some minor changes at the front door. There used to be a register where everybody would pay their check that is moved to the center in between the deli and the cooking area, across from the deli used to be refrigeration cases with all of your retail cheeses, dairy products and other items those are no longer there. The seating has stayed the same with a few changes in the back. There is no more seating towards the back door, which leads down to the bathroom Overall though this still has The look in the feel of the old deli reminiscent of good old times I saw that they had a number counter for customers when they are busy, and I’ll be darned if that is not the same number counter we had and used back in the 80s. It has not changed. The menu is classic Jewish style deli with some twists and new items while the customer base has changed over the years. It seems that they’re still quite a few People that enjoy A good Philadelphia Jewish deli like this I ordered an everything bagel toasted with olive oil, lettuce, tomato, onion, and green peppers and Kalamata olives on the side being vegan. I took out the smoked salmon, but that is something that I would eat every week growing up as a kid minus the smoked salmon. The sandwich was absolutely delicious Brought back so many memories Kalamata I know they’re only olives, but I absolutely love them with this sandwich the saltines of it along with the fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, and green pepper. It’s just so delicious. My friend had a smoked salmon Benedict, which he did like very much while they weren’t that busy our waitress was very nice. The kitchen was a little bit backed up with orders from takeout this did not bother me. I was just glad to be here back in the 80s and the 90s this place was so busy. We would have 6 to 7 waitresses on at a time and the weekend was absurd Friday Saturday there was a line out the door and Sunday you would be lucky to get in. It was the place to be when we received our check I was astonished this place actually is affordable and a good value and will be someplace that I visit more often because of that I just hope I can get out here more often. Very nice people. That have taken over this business if you like, old-school corn, beef sandwiches, smoked fish, platters, and homemade soups. This is the place for you.

I turned the corned beef special into a corned beef cheesesteak. Let's try to love the Corned Beef Cheesesteak and not hate the cheesesteak guy. I like that they worked with me and made the hot corned beef special into a cheesesteak. I get that it's a different dynamic so I'm not going to kill him for the cheese not being melted very well. At $9.95 I need it more of everything. The Challah French Toast caught my attention. Good overall experience.

Not sure what changed from the past but my food was burned and it seemed like the grill was not cleaned properly. The pancakes were covered in black residue from the grill. I also found paper/tissue IN my food, which topped off my experience. Highly disappointed, I grew up on this place but I will not be back after this.

Update #2 6/26/2024 New Management, Again the original Jewish Deli owners of City Line Deli 5 stars

The Asian couple owners - just never really figured out how to run the place. Didn’t even know how to hire and fire employees if they were terrible. 2 stars

now the 3rd time as they say is the charm. New Owners seemed great!! Back to 5 stars at least for my order :0)

Wow! Now this is unique, Muslims running what was once a very well known and excellent 5 Star Jewish Deli. I got takeout Lox bagel sandwich + FF The guy running the counter was great (new Muslim owner) and my bagel lox cream cheese capers onion & tomato sandwich was excellent & great fries.

So, noticing the Asian owners were gone and a counter guy with a bit of, hey this guy looks and sounds like he might be Muslim, I asked him - are you the new owner? Smiling proudly he said yes, I leaned in and quietly asked - are you Muslim? He said yes and I gave him my heartfelt Salaams. I love having the skill and knowledge of knowing how to greet people from a few different religions.

The place looked and felt very clean, the atmosphere had changed too. Bright and friendly and professional too. The “Vibe” of a good Deli was back, nice!

The 5 stars is for excellent service getting takeout and the food portions and the food quality. I have not sat down for waitress service and have not ordered any other food. This review is only for those things. But, based on that experience I will definitely go back. btw - I also love the full circle of the original owners being devout and now back to the new devout owners. Whether you bend, bow, kneel, sit or turn is not relevant,...

This place was dirty at first sight. The decor was super outdated and dusty. I got a cup of tea n the waitress didnt bring any sugar just a dry lemon and a little vial of honey. My food took forever to come out and when it did it was a little cold. I asked for cheese in my eggs and it was non existent. The sausage had no flavor and was super oily. The bacon was super salty and im pretty sure im gonna have to check my blood pressure when i go home. I would not recommend this place at all and in all honesty i feel like they need to revamp everything and start over with a new staff and better management. Definitely overpriced as well. When i asked for a refill of my tea the waitress didnt even discard my first tea bag and stated that they had ran out of honey. Highly...
