I've gone here a few times. Everyone is very friendly. My only issue is the last time I went here (on Sunday), there were two ppl ahead of my son & I, and we were told that the wait would be around 30 minutes. No problem. That's reasonable. He finished up with them and cut my son's hair. But then he left and the other barbers ignored me. It seemed like a couple of them had appointments (I was a walk-in), but after listening to them joke back and forth about who was going to cut my hair and no one wanting to, then seeing another walk-in (the 4th person to come in after me and get a haircut) get seated immediately (after I'd already been waiting for well over an hour) I left. Like I said, everyone is usually very nice and friendly. But when It came time to cut my hair they ignored me and sort of jokingly argued about who was going to do it. Also, my sons hair had spots that were missed and I had to finish the haircut when we got home since I didn't notice the spots until his barber had left. I'm still giving them 3 stars because the other couple times I was there I had no issues...
Read moreNew to the overbrook park area and was looking for a good barber shop for me and my 5 year old son. I always see the sign and and its in close walking distance so I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, and quickly learned that this is NOT a family friendly environment. The barber with the dreadlocks who was the only one available appeared to be either high or drunk and had a noticeable hygiene issue and a very bad odor. After listening to him talk loudly about "pu$$y" and several other profanoties with his older client in the chair, I left. Other barbers told him to watch his language and he told them to suck his you know what, with no regards to the 3 or 4 children inn the shop. Found another barber shop about three blocks down with no issues. I too am white but enjoy a quality mens get away from a barbershop, but without having to cover my son's ears. Whoever is the owner needs to step in and muzzle that guy, and address his B.O. If yiu have children, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE TO PATRONIZE THIS...
Read moreTook my son for a haircut last week and the barber was visibly either heavily intoxicated or under the influence of narcotics. The barber named Jewels (sp) was very belligerent using profane language in the shop towards other barbers and I will never return. His behavior was absolutely embarrassing, disrespectful and outright disgusting. While I understand the traditions of Black Barbershops and how it’s a place where one can vent, speak their minds, unwind, discuss openly various conversations, but, this was a bit much to experience. No respect or attempt to tone down tradition in the presence of women and children and barbers coming in visibly drunk or high. However the older gentleman, somewhat father figure barber made all attempts to pacify the problem to no avail. I will also be reporting my review to the BBB and will never patronize this establishment again. I encourage all readers of these reviews to examine the business practices of Sharp Skills barbers before supporting...
