Let's start off with the good. The spicy chicken was surprisingly good besides the fact it was not spicy. The sauce was great. Chicken was of above average quality. The sandwich itself is small and plain looking, but it is actually quite tasty. The bad - just about everything else. The parking lot is a madhouse and it's difficult to turn in/out of the lot on a busy street. The prices are higher than any of the competitors. The fries... Let's just say they may as well have been off the floor from the night before, reheated for the 5th time. They were basically inedible. I am not a complainer in general, but it was very difficult to communicate with the drive in worker. I understand it's a Hispanic restaurant but you should probably still have a fluent English speaker working the drive thru. This is still America, after all... I had to keep repeating myself to the cashier, as she had to keep repeating herself to me. She could barely understand the most basic of English phrases and menu items. Any drive thru cashier should know how to take an order in English if they are working in America. I stand on that with no hate or judgement, just speaking facts. Basically the chicken was good, but not spicy at all - overall the food was meh. I would not personally go back, as Popeyes across the street is tastier and much...
Read moreThis order was taken through the drive thru which moved pretty quickly.
I ordered the mixed 4 piece chicken, sides were rice and beans, dinner roll. I also ordered a chicken empanada, a flan, and a large horchata drink.
First was the horchata, it was okay pretty mid level.
Then was the chicken empanada which was pretty tasty but very small.
Then I tried the rice which has corn and peas, it is okay. But when you combine the rice with the beans, it’s a game changer. Smokey, alittle heat from the beans with the rice takes it to another level. Very good!!!
Then I tried the fried chicken which they also have grilled. But I opted for fried, this was very tasty full of flavors not so crunchy but the flavors take this chicken to another level and if you ask for hot sauce they give you cholula hot sauce packets pairs with this chicken extremely well.
Lastly the Flan, it’s okay not my favorite but it might be yours. Don’t knock it until you try it.
I will definitely come back to pollo campero again and try the grilled next time. 4.5 would be my rating. I’ll take this over kfc or...
Read moreBest fast food/chicken spot that's opened in the area recently.
Fried chicken was great, well seasoned and cooked well. The chicken was definitely brined too because it was very juicy and that is rare to see from fast food spots. They were out of chicken breasts when I was there so I couldn'ttry those. 9/10
Yucca fries were the best that I've had recently. Salted well, crispy on the outside, and still soft on the inside. 9/10
Plaintains were pretty good, nothing special but not bad by any means. 6/10
Empanada was surprisingly good, crunchy but soft shell and well seasoned filling. 7.5/10
Nuggets were pretty good as well, seasoned like the fried chicken and fried well, but one piece was pure tendon/cartilage. 8/10
Horchata was good, less sweet than most horchatas, but definitely sweet enough. 7/10
Companero sauce and buffalo sauce were good. 7.5/10
Dinner roll was also good and fresh. 8/10
I waited about 20 mins to get this food via drive thru on a Tuesday night around 7pm and overall I'm happy with that given the fact that they just opened recently and how good...
