We dined at Prime Rib to ring in the New Year. The Prime Rib, for this event, offered a $175.00 per person dinner, complete with appetizer, a Caesar salad or bisque, 4 entrees from which to choose, and a dessert.
Service off the bat was sensational. Our table of 6 was served by 2 servers. Both were courteous and friendly, but unavailable/invisible at times as they shared a room full of diners spanning maybe 10-12 tables. We expected long waits between salad/bisque and our dinner course, from our dinner course to dessert, and then in waiting for our check (which was the longest wait.). Neither server apologized for any delays. The busboy was very good. Kept waters full and our table clear from dishes.
Food was average.
The appetizer was shared over 3 plates for our table, which was nice. However each was topped with limp looking watercress or Arugula (we weren’t sure what it was.)
The Caesar salad was heavily dressed and in place of croutons, which are traditionally served on a Caesar salad, toasted breadcrumbs topped the salad.1 of the diners had butt ends of the romaine in their salads. Not good. The Lobster Bisque was the better of the 2 choices.
As for entrees, 4 of us enjoyed the Filet & Lobster entree, where the lobster tail was much larger than we anticipated. The potato cake on the entree was not very good. That said, this was the clear winner of the entrees.
1 of us had the Lobster Risotto that while topped with large chunks of lobster meat, was pasty and mushy to the taste.
1 of us had the Chilean Sea Bass. The fish was delicious but the potatoes which accompanied the fish were uncooked (raw) and the asparagus was not trimmed before cooking, leaving the diner with largely unable to be eaten asparagus.
The dessert was a gelatinous raspberry “mousse) that while it looked nice, wasn’t worth the wait after dinner.
Drinks and cocktails were good.
For $1600 with a tip, we expected much more. We have spent less for meals at comparable restaurants like Capital Grille or Barclay Prime, and left much more satisfied.
I don’t think we will be rushing back to the Prime Rib anytime soon. Not worth the price for the overall return. Truly...
Read moreParty of 20 and I didn’t get my steak till over an hour after everyone else was served their food. I refused it at that point. Sides were cold so at that point it was useless. They should be ashamed for charging these prices. Go downtown if you want a real upper echelon steakhouse
I wanted to follow up on this review and explain it in greater detail because this meal really did ruin my night. We had a party of about 20 of us for work (we have off site meetings every few months at LIVE ) The food came and two steaks were missing (a filet medium and a ribeye med rare) After about 20 mins the filet came and about 35 mins after that the ribeye came but at that point i refused it. Everyone else in my party was done eating their meal and was ready to hit the casino and watch the baseball game and I didn’t want to hold that up. The sides we had ordered were also already cold so at this point I knew there was just no way I could have enjoyed this meal. My perspective was that when the food was originally served and they realized they had forgotten a steak they should have just cooked one up on the double but that didn’t happen. I don’t know if they were rushing to get one out and maybe overcooked another one , idk it was truly and extremely long wait. The manager did make an effort to try and make things right by sending some shrimp cocktail out and comping the steak. He was bothered by the fact I refused the steak and asked to speak to me privately. I wont say what was spoken between us. I genuinely do believe he was making an effort but it was too little too late. I would have rather paid 2X as much for the steak and had it arrive on time so i could enjoy it. While i appreciate the comps on the check it just doesn’t make a difference to me. If a restaurant served free food 24/7 but some meals in the party came 45 mins late i would not go there. There are 3 kinds of high end steakhouses - the real deal, bad ones disguised as the real deal and bad ones described as the real deal in a casino. Unfortunately this is for the...
Read moreI would have loved to give this place 5 stars but sadly I couldn’t. I went here for my 21st birthday last year and I’m just now writing a review under my review page r. I realized how much this affected me and I still tell people this story until this day. I went here with my friend for my birthday to celebrate and figured I try this place out since I’m obsessed with prime rib steak and I looked this place up and wanted to give it a try. When we were first greeted for our reservations made that I confirmed with the women at the door that we were getting a booth as I wanted my reservations she said ok. When we got shown to our table it was a half booth and half chair, me and my friend both wanted a booth so we asked to move and they gave us a problem saying a booth is for a larger party, there was barely anyone in there and we requested a booth weeks in advanced to celebrate my birthday. Sadly we got placed with a new server and he knew it was my birthday and I kid you not he ABANDONED our table. After he took our orders we didn’t see him much after that, it took him ages to come back to our table even requesting simple things like ketchup. The food runner ended up taking over our table and we needed tipping her instead. Our server was still on duty helping and checking up on all his tables around us except us. Seems very motivated in my opinion, not gonna mention why. But I wanted it to be a nice birthday and the least I could have had was good service and treated with human decency. Aside that, the food was amazing and I loved it and so did my friend. The gm heard about our experience and comped a bunch of stuff and gave us free desert and apologized for my poor experience which made me feel better, but when I reflect back to my birthday on that day I don’t feel good about it :( makes me not wanna return. I wish I remembered the man’s name to warn everyone about...
