My husband and I had THE BEST experience celebrating our wedding at the Valley Green Inn! We initially chose this venue because it had the most straightforward and all-inclusive wedding package options, as well as a beautiful and memorable outdoor location. Since the ceremony and reception were both at the Valley Green Inn, and all of the bar and catering services were included, the only additional vendors we needed to book were the florist, DJ, sound equipment, officiant, and photographers.

Amber made the wedding planning process incredibly smooth and easy by providing us with all the necessary information at different stages leading up to the event. She was extremely supportive of our vision, a lot of fun to work with, and made us feel like celebrities on our special day.

The day of our wedding, it rained on and off, and the Valley Green Inn staff was able to shift the outdoor ceremony to a tented canopy space, which ended up working out better than we could have ever imagined. Many of our guests said that the sound of the rain on the canopy made the ceremony feel more intimate, romantic, and connected with the surrounding nature of the beautiful park along the Wissahickon Creek.

Something that I love about this venue is that it feels very family-friendly and down-to-earth, but the food and catering menu felt like a top-notch 5-star restaurant experience! We really enjoyed tasting and choosing our wedding menu ahead of time, as well as designing the floor plan, layout, and flow of the event to suit our needs. Overall, we had about 100 guests. Many people complimented us afterward saying that it was the most beautiful, memorable, and fun wedding they had ever attended.

I highly recommend working with Amber and the Valley Green Inn team if you are looking for an exceptional...

Made a reservation for 7pm a week ago, and was seated OUTSIDE in a flimsy tent in 19degree weather!! Our table didn't have a heater, because (According to our server) another table took it and had 2 working heaters. You would think that's an easy problem for management to resolve, right? WRONG! The restaurant management had no desire to correct the situation, or provide us a seat that we didn't have to eat with our coats & gloves on. At $75 a plate Valentine's event dinner, they could done much better. Really... for $75 I get to eat on folding chairs on a patio? Also the restaurant claims that proof of vaccination is required, but seated us without asking for our vaccination cards. We ended up going elsewhere, not that our server or hostess seemed to care in the least. The management of this restaurant is one big dumpster fire of a hot mess. AVOID

Edited to address the lame response from management. Our Table had NO heaters!!! ZERO-Nada-NONE! It was Nineteen (19) degrees outside. Your staff allowed your customers to rearrange the heaters, leaving my table with NONE. Maybe your configuration is sufficient when set up correctly, but that didn't do me any good. Judging from other dressed in coats and hats while eating I would venture to guess it wasn't heated properly even in areas with heaters!!! YOU and your staff did nothing to correct it. When we asked to speak with you, we were told YOU weren't available. When I made a reservation I made a reservation for INSIDE dining. I WANTED to be in an area where vaccinations were required. How dare you stick me in an area not requiring vaccinations without telling me!!! Thanks for totally ruining the evening. No I don't want to try your establishment again. You really don't...

Review of having an event at VGI:

VGI didn’t show up on basic searches for venues in Philly, but I sought it out because I remembered it from hiking in Wissahickon and I am so glad I did. Not only did it tick all my boxes of what I wanted from a venue (natural greenery, near water, beautiful views, natural light, tranquil and so many more) but was surprisingly affordable for the gorgeous location. Amber is the events point-person and I love her - she’s excitable, detail-oriented, knowledgeable, patient, kind and just all around a wonderful person to get to know and work with.

VGI locks you into only food and drink vendors - they do food and beverages in-house. The food is easy to sample through the restaurant and is very tasty. They also provide tables, chairs, plates, cutlery, linens which makes the planning process and after-party clean-up breezy. Moreover, their staff does set-up and take down. They have parking which they restricted to my party guests, and are a dog-friendly venue. One small draw back is that they don’t have a private ante room, but we happily made do with the bathrooms to change, having done hair/make-up beforehand.

Day-of, Amber and staff were present pre-party and throughout the evening. They were very helpful in setting up and mindful throughout of ensuring we had a lovely time. Rhonda for eg. ensured I had photos of the cakes before she took them from their displays to slice up for serving. Eric was very liberal with alcohol in the drinks and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing my friends happy-drunk.

I resoundingly recommend Valley Green for any event. Loved the experience and will definitely go back next time we’re in...

We sat inside and it was very pretty and quaint. The ceilings are quite low beware tall people. I’m assuming though that this was a house transformed into a restaurant. Very small location so make a reservation! Also they hold events. On the day that we came there was a wedding and my reservation was the last table of the day before the wedding. They didn’t rush us or anything but just saying things happen here that you wouldn’t know about so walk ins are going to be tough. We got 2 cocktails, a shareable plate and 2 entrees to share as well. All of it was spectacular. My girlfriend is a bar tender and I was her to make the apple pie drink for me at home. Our food was the truffle parm fries to share and then she got the salmon entree and I got the short rib entree since we both wanted to try them. They both come with rice, the short rib comes with peppers and the salmon with spinach. Absolutely so tender, so incredible. The dress code on the website is “smart casual” but we were dressed for our hike and we were fine. Spent a couple dollars over $100.
