I love this place. I'm here in town, hanging out with mom for Thanksgiving, visiting from Denver... and I want tacos... tacos like I can get at my local taqueria back home. Mom says she's up for whatever I can find and when I saw the photos and read the google reviews for El Super Taco I could tell that this place was my jam. It's the real deal. Tortillas were excellent, meats were nicely seasoned. (For my mom, who's used to more gringo-style Mexican fare, it was a bit on the too-salty and too-hot side). Mom had pollo and pastor and I had a variety of pastor, asada, camaron, carnitas and chicharron. All were delicious, though I'd say that the faves in my sampler were chicharron and asada, but that camaron taco had this great creamy sauce on it that totally satisfied and I wanted to get another one to confirm, but I was too stuffed at that point for it to be worthwhile. The tacos are of the smaller size, but they double-up on the corn tortillas because they are also positively loaded with meats. Back home at Taqueria Mi Pueblo, I can stuff myself with 6 tacos. At El Super Taco, it's an 8-10 taco affair to reach the same plumpness that makes you want to take a nap afterwards. The upside is that you can swing for more variety in your taco exploration! I scanned the menu as I left and I'm sorta interested in bopping down there later in the week to get one of their tortas and maybe a burro or two, but I saw birrias there, as well, so I have a lot of work to do I guess. The restaurant is clean and the salsa bar is well-appointed (pot-o-hot-frijoles, pickled carrots & jalapenos in there, too, and a diablo salsa that's [chef_kiss]), there's a decent selection of the regular taqueria sodas (Jarritos, Fanta, Mexi-coke) as well. They have a bunch of different bottled hot sauces if that's a requirement, too. Lady at the counter was friendly and helpful and had some good suggestions for my mom, too, who was a little intimidated by all the different choices. Everything was cooked so fast. It feels like it's best as a lunch place, but we were there for dinnertime and it was fairly quiet and laid back. The ONLY thing this place was missing was beer... and when it comes down to it, beer's not half as important as the good food, nice clean floors and tables, great salsa selection and helpful people to put everything together for you in such a quick and efficient way. This is the kind of place that can use more business, with a nice and simple menu that doesn't seem likely to change or become overly fancy. I love this place, and I think...
Read moreYou have been my favorite Taco place since I moved to the Valley. I lived 40 minutes away last year and I would still come and make the commute. I went to your establishment the end of last week. I had the chicken tacos, rice and beans.I never received the jalapeno and grilled onions that are supposed to accompany my food. I became sick the next day with excruciating stomach pains and I'll spare you the other details. I never became sick ever from eating your food. I have a stomach of steel. The rice is not good anymore it was less than mediocre. The recipe changed. I believe I got sick off the beans someone is not washing their hands or not soaking the beans. While I was eating the food I had the sneaking suspicion that I would probably get sick but because I was hungry I shrugged it off and kept eating. My chicken tacos were barely hot. The last few times that I have come there has barely been a crowd. The atmosphere feels weird. I think your customers that know what you used to be have came to the same conclusion as me and have decided to not patronize you any more. I got sick off your food like I was eating Taco Bell. I don't know who you have cooking the food now but a lack of attention and care is missing .The young ladies that work the front do the best they can and are attentive and respectful. I noticed even their faces have changed. I found something foreign in my good and was given a refund for a meal. Unfortunately me mentioning that my family threw most of our food away is not enough to warrant a deeper refund. I will NEVER eat at your establishment again. I am letting you know out of the kindness of my heart that your business is going down hill. It took me awhile to notice and see that things are not the same but I have taken the blinders off. My stomach is still hurting from the food I had days ago. Weak. I'm not trying to bash your small business but listen to the criticism that I am giving. I used to brag about your place all the time. Now I have to find another taco place to go through and possibly waste my money doing trial and error. đ If you are a potential customer try at your own risk. Don't say I didn't warn you. To the business. Please do better by...
Read more7.5/10. Takeout Order: Carnitas Burrito + sour cream + cheese. $16.93. Super-friendly and accommodating staff.
Clean, well-stocked salsa bar under a nostalgic green âsalad barâ neon sign. The avocado sauce has zero spice, but blends excellently with the other salsas for an amazing topping. The diablo was my favorite of the other salsas I tried.
The burrito shell was toasted before being well-wrapped in foil/paper, and stayed warm after about 20 minutes of travel. Pre-cut in half for easy access and a visually stunning presentation.
Inside I found everything jam-packed with flavor and perfectly melty and integrated. The carnitas was expertly cooked, sporting a bit of crunch on the exterior yet succulent and juicy inside, with the right amount of supporting rendered fat.
This paired extremely well with a can of Hatch Chile Gatos (golden ale brewed with chiles) from Fate Brewing out of Scottsdale (purchased elsewhere).
I know there are a lot of options out there, but this place deserves to be high on your list if you havenât...
