I've been wanting to hit up this place for a while. It's right near work and it smells great as you pass by! Finally got my chance!! The smell is delicious as your walking up and you just know there's good grub inside! Walking in is a little disorienting tho as you don't have a greeter and you kind of have to find your way to the ordering window which is just around the corner. Took me a few minutes to realize you had to order at the window and seat yourself. Mexican crew in the kitchen was a plus (per my knowledge of Mex culture and seafood dishes)! But the lady who took my order was rude and barely spoke enough English to get my order in, but 4th time's the charm. Next, tried to find a seat and they were all occupied by the last customers leftover trash. Had to tell the staff about the lack of clean tables and finally the busboy came out and cleaned up. If he would've greeted me instead of ignoring me when I first came in I would've told him about the tables earlier. I ordered the ROCKY POINT SHRIMP COCKTAIL which was $8 for a small portion with 4 halved medium-sized shrimp in it... SKIP IT. Luckily, I had ordered the 4 SHRIMP & CHIPS platter to-go and it saved the day, moderately priced and weird looking, but very delicious paired up with the dips & sauces at the self serve station. THE FRIES ARE AWESOME!! I really wanted this place to work out but the service overshadowed the food, leaving me disappointed. I'm going back one more time tho... +1 star if I get a 'Hi' when I walk in. 2nd...

I had the 2 fish and 2 shrimp combo with fries. I assumed it would be tiny pieces of shrimp like you see at Long John Silver's. Boy, was I wrong! They were mighty big. I almost regretted my order as it was just so much food! But I powered through and loved every single bite. I really enjoyed the breading. It wasn't too thick and didn't overpower the taste of the shrimp. The fish was nice and crispy on the outside while remaining perfectly cooked on the inside (not overcooked and dry like you sometimes encounter at much crummier joints). The fries were nice and piping hot. Nothing special, but a perfect compliment to the fish and shrimp. An array of fine sauces are available for your dipping pleasure. Overall, just a great meal that fills you up and doesn't break the bank.
The decor is a bit dated, no doubt. It's your usual mix of cliche nautical paintings and furnishings. Definitely a hole-in-the-wall vibe. Don't let that discourage you, though. It's a glorious little dive (ocean joke!) that is full of charm.
Side note, Knock Kneed is super close to Sky Harbor International Airport, so if you are sending friends or family away for a while, stop here first and you will send them on their way full and happy!
Side note 2, why I even thought to compare this place to Long John Silver's in anyway is beyond me. This hunts, captures, kills, and mounts Long John Silver's on their bathroom wall. Yeah, that's right, the bathroom wall, not even the...
Read moreNo one has the quality at the price and value and consistency in Seafood and Fish in the Valley like Knock Kneed Lobster does. Don’t get me wrong, this is not by any means a Bluewater Grill, Mariscos Playa Hermosa or Ocean 44. I call Knock Kneed Lobster the ‘Working Man’s’ (or Woman’s) fish house. I am constantly amazed with each visit as to how good these folks are, and why they’ve been around for so long, since the 1940s! Although the owners describe the location as unassuming, it is far from it. As I mentioned before, with its design and color scheme remind you of a seafood restaurant more appropriately located by the seashore beach town than in the middle of a desert. But it’s a site for sore eyes, and the quenching of the seafood connoisseur palate. It’s also amazing to me as to how large and extensive there menu is, and that every item tried from the menu is good, fresh, quickly prepared and best of all, tasty! From their mains like Grilled Boneless Trout to Garlic Baked Cod Filet, or really good Deep-Fried Catfish and fresh Grilled Lobster Tails, to their Cajun Grilled Tilapia, Seafood Platters, Shrimp Platters and even Fried Oysters – you can’t miss. And by the way, they have some incredible sides to, like Whole Jalapenos; really, really good Deep-Fried Zucchini; Whole Dill Pickles; incredibly fab Deep-Fried Mushrooms and much, much more. If you want to get you fish and seafood on, this...
