I had been passing this restaurant for years and never actually knew if it was open or was just a vacated retail space. My commercial property management/tenant rep broker brain kicked in and I thought that the owner of the shopping center has been hurting for money . . . for years. The center doesn't present a very good appearance and I actually was a bit leary of eating in that restaurant.
But, one day for whatever reason and becuase I love Chinese food, I decided to swallow my fear and go for it. I pulled in, parked in the pot holed, unstriped parking lot and venture through the front door. The size of the place surprised me. It's large. It was like a walk back in time. I doubt the place has been remodeled since it was built in the 70s, but it is very clean and offers private booths as well as tables.
The chow line was relatively short and somewhat limited, but by no means lacking in great choices. One taste of their egg flower soup, orange and sesame chicken, fried rice and I was hooked. It is now among my favorite restaurants. All of the food is just excellent, the service is wonderful and the bill is very inexpensive for an all-you can eat meal. The only thing that could use improvement is that the food needs to be warmed better. A fresh supply of food cools down too quickly.
I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. By the way. The Lims own the...
Read moreThis place is nothing like the reviews claim it is; from the outside you might think it’s a coming of age aesthetic classic, hole-in-the-wall, chinese spot, but NO! It’s just bad! First, they overcharged us for the two kids with us, which we thought we could look past because the food would make up for it, right? WRONG! My sister almost had a meltdown because her egg roll tasted like soap! To give them the benefit of the doubt, my nephew really liked the noodles (that looked like it had canned chicken in it) and the jello! However, the food was cold, and you’re better off buying great value orange chicken that you cook up in your air fryer while watching Shrek 3. Complete waste of $65, especially in this economy! The second I tasted this food, I wanted to get into my car, drive 18 hours back to East Texas, and eat at my beloved “China Cafe,” in Gun Barrel City, Texas. I’m going to In-N-Out now. Would like to note, there was a mosquito in my nephew’s water, which is a real problem because he is allergic to bees, and is now scared of bugs. This visit caused immense emotional distress. You’re better off going to the ATM, pulling out $65, and lighting it on fire. This visit was so bad, I started praying to a God that I don’t...
Read moreI went here on recomendation of a co-worker. I would have never stopped by based on the little strip mall location. However as a business professional who likes to keep his stomach living on the edge I went inside.
I was a little confused at first by the layout but I was directed by the cashier to the buffet area, where you eat first and pay later.
I made my way down the line taking all I wanted. There were a few other people dining, a family and a few other people off on their lunch break. For a buffet it was all pretty good, the fried rice was a little overdone but everything else was just fine.
I was offered a drink right away and a refill as soon as my glass was empty. I'm sure you can probably take a second trip through the buffet line but I was too full to do so.
The dining area was decorated, a little run down but still nice. But far not the worst I've seen. Overall I liked it and would return the next time i'm...
