I used to come here for the Mexican food. Post covid it just wasn't the same. However, i gave this place another try and im so glad I did.
I went on a Monday for happy hour. I expected it to be busy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because how under staffed the bar was. I sat at the bar for what seemed like forever before i could make eye contact with the Bartender and raise my hand. She finally came over and looked so sad and overwhelmed and jt was only 5:30. I wanted to jump back there and help her. I ordered a frozen margarita and within minutes it was set in front of me. Only, it wasn't frozen, jt was on the rocks. I was so thirsty by that time i didn't complain. I noticed there was maybe 3 bar backs helping now, but still only one dedicated Barender that actually could pull the lever and fill the cups with delicious margaritas. Maybe they can train another employee how to fill those cups too?
Onward to a table for some food. As understaffed as the bar was, the food servers brought their "A" game. Our main server was amazing she had 2 other co workers checking in on us too. Tip sharing or team work. Whatever you want to call it. It worked ! The food we ordered came quickly. I was with 2 friends. One ordered the cheese crisp which i tried also and it was good. . .my other friend ordered . Mini burritos. There was PLENTY of them for an appetizer. I was impressed. However, I was not impressed with the chewy texture. They had, I would have preferred them to be cooked a little longer for more of a crunch. My friend enjoyed them. I barely got to sample one before they were h Gobbled up.
Born and Raised in Buffalo , New York I consider myself to be a Chicken Wing Connisuer. The wing appetizer was very reasonably priced. I ordered them double crispy which they weren't exactly double. But still amazing! They were plenty meaty. Nice mix of wings and legs. I had the Buffalo. Medium sauce which i think was a .mild/medium not overly vinegar on the sauce. KUDOS. The temperature was piping hot which pairs well with cold Bleu ,Cheese sauce. It was actually thick with lumps of yummy bleu cheese. . So many times at other places, i order the bleu. Cheese and i need help from my fellow diners to see if it was ranch or the real deal sitting on my plate.
And the thing that TRULY blew me away was the celery sticks and carrots. Someone in the kitchen was paying attention. There was ample amounts of each. They were cold.crunchy and delicious !! Other places give skinny celery sticks that are practically see through and sliced so thin the bleu cheese falls off.
Lastly they give you 2 full containers of bleu cheese dressing. The kitchen staff are a bright group!! They already know. They know one container isnt enough. They pack it full and give you 2 from the start.
The bill arrived promptly. It was accurate and very reasonable.
Valle Luna you did it!! Amazing wings and food. Fast friendly service, great attention to the small details. You won me over. I'll Be back again...
Read moreValle Luna NEVER fails! My son and I stopped in for a late dinner. Apparently there had been some unforeseen food prep delays, but our server, Ava, made it very clear that there could be delays as long as 45-60 minutes. We were seated right away and Ava kept us posted every few minutes. Well, leave it to Valle Luna to get it figured out because we had only about a 15 minute delay, but had plenty of chips and salsa (and a mmmmargarita) while waiting for food. Ava did not even need to write down our order and it arrived exactly as specified (and we had a few very detailed requests). Impressive! She was attentive and quick to fulfill our requests for more napkins, lime, etc. As we were leaving, we noticed Alex was the manager on duty. This may explain why, despite some unexpected challenges, Valle Luna nailed it! I had a previous experience via phone with Alex; he was polite, thoughtful, and accommodating; he seems to really put himself in the shoes of the customer. It was a pleasure to meet him in person. While talking, he mentioned, "oh, you were the table with the dairy allergy and the vegetables..." WOW! Yes, we were that table and it is HUGE to us that our specific requests were thought about, acted on, and important to Alex! He actively manages food, employees, customers, and so much more. Ava and Alex were star performers and greatly appreciated. Shout-out, too, to Dylan T who was our server on a previous visit. He was polite, efficient, and eager to be of service. Love Valle Luna on Cave Creek Rd!!!! The service was so good, I almost forgot to review the food! Love the shredded beef enchiladas with green sauce and the shredded beef tacos. The refried beans and rice are always perfectly cooked and we ordered the calabacitas (veggies) as well. The calabacitas is made up of broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, onion, and green pepper (low carb!!) Again, the cook nailed it as they were cooked and seasoned to perfection; not overcooked, a little bit of crunch! SO YUMMY! As always, the chips were warm, the salsa was YUM, and the margarita was just right. Thank you, Valle Luna, for giving us many more reasons to keep...
Read moreI was very disappointed The last time I visited this location. I ordered a taco salad through their menu online during my lunch break at work and went to pick it up. Once I got back to my workplace and started eating it, I noticed that a lot of the ground beef was very very pink. I reminded myself that beef can have pink in it, but this was very mushy and made me uncomfortable because it was pretty much raw. I called them and spoke to the person at the front who was very kind and apologetic and transferred me to a manager, but I was very upset with the managers response. I had never informed anybody that I was looking for my money back (it was literally $12?). I was mainly worried that they were not cooking their meat all the way, and did not want it continuing to happen throughout the day the manager then proceeded to tell me that she could 100% guarantee that the meat was cooked all the way and the tomatoes in the salad is what made it the bright pink. keep in mind, some of the ground beef actually was a brownish tint, while other larger portions of the meat were a mushy, bright pink, indicating that it has not been cooked all the way through. that made me upset because she could not 100% guarantee because she never asked me to return with the salad to inspect it and I have no way of knowing if she checked the salad once it was made before it was Packaged. she had just told me that if I wanted my money back, I would need to go through DoorDash and that the meat was not raw. In my opinion it felt like she didn’t want to hear me at all or care that the meat could potentially be undercooked. with this happening, I will no longer return to this location, because I can’t trust that the food is being cooked all the way through but I also could tell that it did not matter to them about coming to a solution or making me feel heard, They just wanted to make sure that...
