I went to The Melting Pot for my friend's birthday, and I was nervous because I've never personally been here before. We had a reservation for 6:45pm but had come a tad early, but left us all enough time to use the restroom from our long trip from Tucson to Phoenix. After waiting a bit we were seated in the back top left corner where we had two warmers. As a person who's only willing to spend 20$ for food it was a tad nerve-racking seeing the prices but I was reassured that it would be fine to get what I liked. I personally got myself "The Bee's Tea" as I've never had a spirit free drink before, It was pleasantly sweet, and it was really good. I would order another if I went back.
My friend's family had mutually agreed to get "Wisconsin Cheddar" and "Fiesta," I'm not a big cheese fan but watching our server put together the cheese in front of me was really cool. He even left us the leftover jalapenos from the Fiesta just in case we wanted to add to the spice. The tray to me was new, I had tried everything with both types of cheese learning the Bread and Tomato worked best with "Wisconsin" and almost everything worked with "Fiesta". After we finished he came back with our salads, I took the safest option with a "Caesar". The salad was delicious and the small sweet peanuts sprinkled in was a bit odd to find but eating it together was amazing. It was such an incredible pairing!
For the Entrees I had gotten a "Steak Lovers" though the family had already picked out the cooking style, "Coq Au Vin" and "Mojo". They had even given us a plate of potatoes and zucchini to place inside of the broths, Though I had stayed snacking on the mushrooms. I tried each different cut of meat in both cooking styles and enjoyed all of them, Each different cut was either marinated, seasoned, or plain. And I tried each sauce as well, not wanting to leave out the opportunity. I enjoyed each sauce as they all had different contributions to each bite. Though their family except my friend's father were getting full so we had to team up to finish the meat, which I was proud of plus being able to try the other pork was exquisite.
Finishing the Entrees we had gotten up to walk around to prepare for dessert. We had gotten the "Yin & Yang" and "S'mores" for dessert, I was surprised when they had lit the chocolate on fire and they had added graham cracker crumbs (that is optional) for the full s'mores. The "Yin & Yang" was in the exact design, I hadn't explained that as I was just expecting a half and half. They brought out the two trays made of, Cookie dough, Brownies, Pound cake, Rice krispies, Marshmallows, Marshmallows with a coconut cover, Banana slices, and Strawberry slices. I was surprised to see the array of options, dipping each one into the "S'mores". I personally don't like marshmallows but it was delicious with the chocolate dipping, I can't normally have a lot of chocolate as it felt overwhelming but as long as I drank water each bite I'd be able to indulge in the delights.
I had left full and oddly hyper, (Probably all the chocolate I ate) but other than that I had never spent so much money on myself let alone a group and enjoyed myself. This was a wonderful experience for my first time eating here, I'd love to come again. (Once I had saved enough...
Read moreCame here for a birthday/anniversary dinner.
Expected a luxury, high end experience with the price for dinner for two ($140 includes a cheese fondue app, two small salads, two identical "entrees", and a dessert fondue). The only thing luxurious about this experience was the service we got from our waitress, Allie. She's the only reason there are two stars instead of one. She was kind and helpful and very good at her job.
For $140, you get a cheese fondue appetizer for two, two VERY small and poorly made salads, an "entree" (our "big dinner" entree was three pieces of cubed steak, three pieces of cubed chicken, three pieces of cubed duck breast, three shrimp, and two pieces of very smelly/fishy salmon each. So you get a total of 14 bites of an "entree" for each person. We couldn't wait to get out of the depressing booth and environment here, so the dessert fondue was taken to-go. The drinks were good, however $17 for a well-cocktail seemed a bit steep.
I could have gone to Fry's to purchase all of the ingredients used for this $140 dinner and made the same meal for about $50 to feed two people. 100% a waste of money for what we received for the meal... and if you're reading this review thinking, "you're paying for the experience/ambiance/brand", hold your tongue and read on!
On top of the poor food experience, this place hasn't been updated since at least the early 2000's. We were stuck in a booth in a dark room. The pendant light above us was so bright we could've worn sunglasses.
No ambiance -- the walls on the sides of the booth make it completely private and we were faced toward a wall and other diners while eating. Nothing lively, entertaining, or interesting about the interior at all. They also sat us next to the kitchen entrance and we heard employees walking past muttering curses about the chef/kitchen, which really put a damper on the already mediocre evening we spent here.
They could do so much with this restaurant and the experience they offer if they really tried, but this was incredibly disappointing all-around and we will not be returning.
Don't waste your money here. Take your $260 (total for dinner for two, 4 drinks, and tip) and go ANYWHERE else in the Valley - there's no shortage of restaurants with great ambiance, experience and food, but this place is NOT...
Read moreI took my girlfriend to Melting pot because we love it and have been to all the locations multiple times. We called multiple times due to it being the day before valentines and the person told us about the special menu and price which was a 100 a person with no tax or tip included. The guy said that the special would be a 6 oz of fillet plus the regular meat or your choice of the lobster tail. Online it did say that both menus would be offered on the days except valentines day so we thought we would have a a choice. When we arrived we were sat down and were only given the prefix menu which had limited options as compared to the regular menu for double the price. However since we called and talked we were under the impression that it was a good deal with a lot of food. To our surprise we were given something that was completely different as described. The filet was the normal meat that it usually comes with and the lobster tail that my girlfriend got was maybe 1-2 oz if that. Above all that the environment was underwhelming for occasion and the price point. What really upset us was the service was subpar compared to what we normally experience and after it was all said and done we were greeted with an automatic 20 percent gratuity on our already 200 plus dollar bill for just the two of us which wasn't prefaced or shown anywhere. Typically that's for parties of 6 or more in a restaurant and not with a couple. At any other location they have never done this. We were mostly upset because the server didn't even fill our drinks once and when I paid which was with cash the server asked if I wanted my change as if she didn't already get a 45 dollar automatic tip which is unprofessional. I work in high end dining and have patience and empathy but not this time when I was mis-leaded what the experience would entail and especially with the server expecting more tip.We are disappointed in this experience and wont be back to...
