We finally had the opportunity to eat at Original Breakfast House and...it was well worth the wait. Every time we attempt to go to this restaurant, there are a ridiculous amount of people waiting, so we opt to go elsewhere. Today we waited the 25 minutes and it was great. The surf theme for the restaurant was interesting for the state of Arizona but refreshing. The place was packed but not too close and you could feel the good vibes around. There's often times we will go to a restaurant and it can feel off putting. That was not the case here as everyone genuinely appeared happy to be here. I'm a vegetarian, so I often look for a couple of things when trying a new restaurant. I look to see if they have anything to offer me. This restaurant has a few salads, pancakes, waffles, french toast, crepes, and the beyond impossible burger. So they did have things that I could eat, but the other thing I look for is to see if the restaurant will work with me to do a customized entree to accommodate my needs. I ordered the Cali burrito without the eggs or bacon and stuffed with whatever veggies they could find and...it was delicious, the staff didn't give me a hard time about my request, and the burrito was bigger than I thought it would be. Kudos to them for all of the above for me. Next my husband ordered the John Wayne western omelet and he said it was one of the best omelets he'd ever had. He said typically when he gets an omelet, everything is sort of on one side but not this omelet. He said everything was even throughout and there was more than just egg in each bite. We also ordered a plate of French toast to try and it was heavenly. It was fried just enough to have some crisp to it, but not burnt or overdone. It's undertones of cinnamon and spices were not overwhelming and added enough flavor that syrup wasn't really needed but just an added delight. We did take some food home and we paid about $45 for our tab. This is a cash only restaurant BUT they do offer an ATM in the restaurant that does not require a fee for those who do not carry cash anymore...like us. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and she didn't make us feel rushed even though she was very busy. We will be returning to this restaurant in the future and recommending it to...
Read moreAmazing little place! Not going to lie, the area is a little deceiving of this little nook but I'm glad my boyfriend and I took the chance and experienced this wonderful place!
Upon our first interaction, the staff was friendly and welcoming! Though they were having a rush of customers, we did not feel rushed and in yhe end, that piece of mind helped us order faster believe it of not!
The orange juice was freshly squeezed and you could tell it was not artificial -- this was the best orange juice I have ever tasted!
Then we ordered a cinnamon roll as an appetizer, but it was so big it pretty much filled me up! The cinnamon roll was super tasty - it had a cream cheese icing which was just oozing down the roll and filled in the crevices once my boyfriend cut it in half. I personally love and grew up with Cinnabon cinnamon rolls, but I feel like Original Breakfast House's cinnamon roll tops Cinnabon's!
My boyfriend ordered an omelette with bacon, ham and sausage with fruit - the ham was the most prominent taste to me, but it was seasoned just right to compliment the eggs. The omlette was a much needed energy boost for the day and it looked like artwork but tasted much better! Fruit was fruit - nice and healthy and a subtle sweetness to compliment the savory omlette. There were also pancakes, which were pretty thick! I felt like they were "real" pan CAKES!
Lastly, I ordered the two pieces of french toast and - WOW - I thought I was full from the cinnamon roll, but I got stuffed from the french toast and only ate about half of them. I recommend them because they're nice and thick - none of that flimsy white bread toast. And they're flavored with orange zest, which is my favorite thing on french toast since I tried something similar at the beginning of the year.
All-in-all, we had a wonderful experience here, and I could see ouselves coming back -- Oh and if anyone reading this considers eating here, please do note that it is cash only. There is, however, an ATM inside. Also, don't be shy -- Donate! There's cool prizes...

I had the French Toast Combo with scrambled eggs and bacon. The wife had eggs with Portuguese sausage and homefries. The daughter had chicken and waffle.
The French toast had a lemon zest batter, and to make it even more different, it was deepfried. So it looks like no other French toast you have ever had, along with a unique flavor profile. Have to say, the lemon was a little overpowering. When I think of French toast, I think cinnamon, I could not taste cinnamon at all. The eggs were eggcellent, lol. Light, fluffy, and not fall apart, they were cooked just right. Not sure what was yp with the bacon. It was kinda thick, so it wasn't crispy. Which is ok with me as I like mine just cooked thru, not burnt. But it was tough, difficult to chew kinda tough. Flavor was good though.
My daughters chicken and waffle was, skinless, and I think deepfried. It was coated in some type of seasoning that I think would have gone better as a lunch offering. It was good, but not what I expected for a breakfast type chicken. The waffle was a typical Belgium style waffle that was pretty good.
The wife enjoyed the Portuguese sausage and eggs. The homefries she ordered were again seasoned very different. A strong flavor of garlic and somewhat peppery flavor.
Our waitress Molly was great! Our order was correct, on point with the refills, and checked on us at least two other times. And they were busy! She brought our food to the table and made sure we had whatever we needed. Can't say enough good things about her service.
In conclusion, I may not order the French toast again, but I would go back. They have a very unique menu, with some great variety of things I would like to try, like the chicken fried chicken, Hawaiian pancakes, or biscuits and gravy.
Price wise, not budget friendly, but not over the top. The portions are huge though! We spent just over $20/person, not too bad...
