This place was fantastic! We stopped in for a Valentines dinner. We called ahead and found out that they don’t take reservations; but that if we arrived when they opened at 5pm, we shouldn’t have an issue getting a table (but to arrive early, because they fill up fast). And they weren’t kidding; we got there about 5:15pm, and there were only two tables left.
He wait staff were very friendly; they greeted us immediately when we got in the door and after we sat down. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about he menu and answered all our questions. I ordered off the prix fixe meal: sea scallops for an appetizer and seared veal (see photos). The food was quite delicious and cooked to our liking. Our waiter checked in on us a couple times, but left us to enjoy our dinner; which was nice. They were very busy, but we didn’t feel rushed. When it came time for desert, we started to place our order, but he said he already took care of it. Turns out, he brought us out a sampler of all three deserts to try. Some people wouldn’t like that, but we loved that!
So, all in all, we thought this place was great; and we will definitely be going back and bringing our friends and family too!
Pro tip: there are two sides to this restaurant. The part we were in, the Bistro, was located on the backside of the restaurant (didn’t face the street), doesn’t take reservations and is a bit smaller...but they have, pretty much, the same menu. However, on the front of the building (the street facing side), they do take reservations, and it seemed a bit fancier than the Bistro. We didn’t know about this at the time, but will call that side of the restaurant next time, so we can...
Read moreYou know that little, lesser-known, hole-in-the-wall, amazing restaurant that you wish you could think of on a beautiful Saturday or Sunday morning, to spend your entire morning at, enjoying the weather, sipping fantastic coffee with impeccably made pastries (croissants!), rich béchamel sauce on some incredible egg dish and a waiter that just brings you randomly delicious things that you didn't order (and he doesn't charge you for!) because he had them in the back and just thought you might like them? Well, you found it.
This is the "little secret place" you take your out of town friends to. This is the place you lose track of time at with your good friends, laughing and eating the whole morning away until you leave stuffed, totally happy and ready to relax and enjoy the rest of your day.
Love this place. Easy to recommend. We have wandered in on Saturday and Sunday anywhere between 9 and 11am and never had an issue finding a seat. Very casual experience. Start with a cappuccino, enjoy the fresh hot croissants for a while, maybe get a chocolate one (dear god, so good), maybe another cup of coffee, order some breakfast, talk, laugh and just enjoy.
Then be shocked at the end of this beautiful meal when the bill comes, and it is no more than any other breakfast place and the owner probably didn't even charge you for some of the items just so you'd have a better experience (happened every time we've gone). Vincent's place has a really wonderful/relaxed energy that is all about enjoying your day and we do...
Read moreI've been a regular customer of Vincent's Bistro for at least 5 years. Dollar for dollar, it has to be the best food in town. But lately the service has been lacking due to understaffing. My party of 3 arrived on a weeknight at 5:40pm. Only four other tables were occupied, but the only server was still very busy, explaining the menu, taking orders, and serving drinks. We waited 15 minutes to get our order taken, just before the restaurant began filling up. Who knows what was going on in the kitchen. We didn't get our appetizer until 6:20 and our entree until 6:30. Two other servers eventually arrived, but hardly any food was coming out of the kitchen. At least we got served before any of the people who arrived after us. I asked to see Vincent but was told he was gone for the day. It will be awhile before I go back and when I do, if things haven't...
