China Buffet — Restaurant in Pierre

I So want this place to be better. I like buffets because of the amount of options. I've probably eaten here about twenty times in this past year. Today it really seemed like they are trying to do better. It seems like it's always hit and miss with this place. Most times they run completely out of green beans. And most times they are bad about refilling drinks. And most times the tables look a bit dirty. But today the buffet was stocked well, food was hot, drinks were refilled, and it looked cleaner. Often the ice cream machine isn't up and running and that was the only bad part about today's experience. I'm getting a little hopeful about this place. I don't think the price is bad at all, considering the outrageous cost at other places in Pierre. Just keep that ice cream machine up and running! And maybe offer some toppings to go with it. My favorite Chinese buffet in South Dakota! The fried rice is actually brown and flavorful and not white and bland like other buffets. The black pepper chicken is awesome! I also love that their green beans aren't spicy like most other buffets make them. The sugared sweet donuts are big and they weren't hard from sitting in the warmer. They even have twist soft serve ice cream for dessert (my favorite!) My only complaints are that they don't have any drinks for kids (no juice or milk -- only tea, water or soda) and the shrimp dish was too plain for me, would like to see something with more flavor than just butter. As an Asian American i understand that Chinese food can be questionable at some establishments, but this has got to be one of the least pleasant places I’ve ever gone too. I should have taken the empty parking lot on a Saturday night as an indication but I made the mistake of eating here. If you’re searching for a way to clean your colon out the quickest and in the most violent form I strongly recommend this place, but if you like your insides to stay in your insides then I would steer clear.
