Checkers — Restaurant in Pinellas Park

The employees were very nice, 2 guys, but i ordered the 2 for $4 bacon chz burgers, total of 4 burgers and only 1 burger was right, 2 were supposed to have no tomato, no mustard, & they had everything on it!! The othe 2 were supposed to have mayo, kerchup, &, pickle and only 1 was right, the other one had everything, i dont eat tomato, lettuce, onion , and the other 2 had tomatoes & mustard which my daughter doen't eat, needless to say thats just about the burgers & i ordered other stuff!! We were very disappointed because we had been lookin forward to eating checkers cuz I've never gotten bad food from checkers, but this one on ulmerton rd was very disappointing!! Theres nothing worse than lookin forward to food from somewhere only to be disappointed!! I am writing this because I have been in the restaurant business for 30 years & am very understanding, but it wasnt even busy!! So i dont understand what the cooks problem was!! But i will tell you the guy at the window who took the order was very nice & very patient while taking my order!! Very nice guy, great personality, great customer service from him!! I had 2 seperate orders & he was very understanding!!!!!! Needless to say, after really wanting checkers for 2 weeks & living on a budget & finally getting checkers, I was very disappointed that my order was wrong and i couldnt take it back cuz I live in wesley chapel in pasco county so there was no taking it back!!! Im only writing this from a restaurant managers point of view so you know what is goin on in your restaurant so it can be fixed!! Your employee's, 2 guys were super nice, just need to make sure the orders are right!! So the short of this is, I wont be eating at checkers again for quite some time & that breaks my heart because I've always thought checkers was the best for burgers & definitely the best fries!!!! As well as other items!! Sorry this was so long but i felt it needed to be said!! As a manager, bartender & server for 30 yrs, i would love to see this corrected!!! And a checkers lover!! at the time of this writing I'm currently working at checkers. They have no idea that I'm writing this review.

Working at checkers was on my bucket list. So I'm just passing through, this review is 100% honest.

Absolutely the best burger at the best price you will ever have. The Big buford's amazing, but the checker burger is where it's at. The fries are always off the hook, they're absolutely the most popular item. The latest thing is the fry season chicken tenders. But IMHO they need to use exactly the same batter as the fries. They taste incredible, but they need to kick up the crunch factor just a tad.

Checkers gets knocked a lot, for being slow. And I'll own that myself, before I worked there I had the same gripe.

But what I've come to understand, from behind the scenes, checkers doesn't skimp on anything, period.

Every item is made pretty much as you're ordering it, we can hear it over the speakers, and the artificial intelligence that they use for the drive-thru is cutting edge, most people don't realize they're talking to a computer, checkers is dead up serious at getting orders right. We rarely have to remake an order. But because the prices are so reasonable, people tend to order more. Couple that with the fact that the food is just plain stupid good.

When you see a long line at a place it's not because they're the only game in town, it's because the food's worth waiting for.

And all throughout the training, and consistently, the main message they sent to their employees is that we make food, for the hard-working, average American population. Just like us.

The only reason I am giving a four star review is because of one employee that chose to help us even though management was trying not to. My husband and I stopped here last Friday night after a very long day and ordered two of the two for $3.50 meals. We both got one checker burger and one spicy chicken and went home happy that we could just eat and be done with the day. However we got home and neither one of our checker burgers had a burger on it. We got a bunch of with lettuce tomato pickle onion mayo and ketchup but no burger. I had to call 6 times before anyone picked up the phone and when we finally got through the girl was eager to fix the problem the manager not so much. The managers response was do you have a receipt I said no we were not given one or even offered one and I heard her in the background saying to the employee on the phone well then there is nothing we can do but luckily the girl remembered us since she was the one that took our order and told us she understood that we didn't want to come back out but she would be there the next day so to come by between 10 and 6. We did go back the next morning and again the manager on duty was less than thrilled to help us and was not friendly at all.
