7/20/2021 UPDATE Yesterday about 4:30 pm after I posted my negative experience at Gershy’s, the owner himself walked over to my office and apologized profusely for the experience I had. First and foremost he thanked me for my business, apologized for what went wrong and invited me back to the restaurant to right the wrong. Making those three steps indicated that he cares about his customers!! I believe in supporting our small businesses in the Tampa Bay Area. I have been going to Gershy’s for quite some time and that was the first time I experienced poor customer service like that. Based on the owner’s “personal appearance” at my office and acknowledging my negative experience and his customer service skills, I am updating this review. Thank you for acknowledging what went wrong.
7/19/2021Original post I placed an order for fries today 7/19/2021 at Gershy’s restaurant about 12:45 pm. They were very busy. The phones were ringing and there was a line. So I paid for my order and I told the cashier I am going back to my office and will be back in 10-15 minutes, instead of taking up space for other paying customers. I came back and she handed me order. I was appalled. My fries were tossed in a bag without a container. I asked if they no longer using containers and she said “yes do you want me to put it there for you? “I said no thanks, because common sense would tell you not to hand a customer their order in that fashion. I showed everyone at my office the sub standard service I received. I work for the DMV and when I have customers and the want something to eat I always send them to Gershy’s. My coworkers and I will no longer support or refer ANY of our customers to this restaurant....
Read moreI work right around the corner from Gershys and it had become my favorite go-to for lunch. The sandwiches have all been delicious, however, my last visit, I had to wait 50 minutes for my turkey sandwich, which consisted of turkey, tomato and lettuce on toasted bread. Several people behind me received their order way ahead of me and I'm perplexed why it took so long to put together lunch meat, tomato and lettuce between two slices of bread. AND I thought to myself, well, they'll probably throw a brownie or something in there for my trouble, but no, no compensation. So yeah, I was definitely annoyed and the lackadaisical attitude of the cashier doesn't help! I appreciate the woman who brought out my sandwich who did apologize, saying something about figuring out their ordering system?!? This is a super small store.
Anywho, the food has been good so giving four stars. This place is great for folks who have all the time in the world and don't mind waiting almost an hour for...
Read moreupdated review. We have been going to Gershys on a regular basis for years but lately it seems like the food is not as good. There have been 3 times now where I left feeling like I was ripped off. The first time was ordering biscuits and gravy and they tasted like pure flour. It wasn't edible and I had to throw it all away. Months ago I ordered a Cuban and it was the best i have ever had. There was real pork on it. Today I saw a Cuban listed as the special again and rushed over. paid $12 for a sandwich for it to have no real pork. Just lunch meat. sliced ham, salami and turkey. Not much meet in it either. I feel like I waisted $12 on something not very good. As much as I loved Gershys in the past I think we will be taking a break for a while.
Love love love Gershys. My husband picks up lunch from there at least once a week. The food is sooo good and the pizza is the best we have found. Everyone that works...
