This is a beautiful new building but too bad the food and service is so bad. I wish I could give it less than one star. We ordered drinks and the onion ring appetizer upon being seated. When the drinks came we ordered prime rib with beer-cheese soup & loaded baked potato and the 8oz sirloin with salad & veggie. The drinks came with the salad and soup. The soup was "piled" in the cup. It looked and tasted like barely warm cheeze-whiz. The salad was good, but no croutons, just a generic package with 2 saltine crackers. The appetizer came after the soup and salad were put to the side of the table. Our empty drink glasses were taken but we were never brought water or offered another drink. The couple onion rings we got were barely cooked. They looked like they had just come out of the freezer bag, very pale and soggy. A full hour later our food came...still no offer of a second drink or even a glass of water. The "rare" sirloin was medium-well, at best, and the prime rib was mostly fat and gristle. The "loaded" potato didn't come with sour cream, and when asked for came in a "school-lunch" style squeeze container. I asked to see the restaurant manager but was told there was not one on duty this night (Saturday) but maybe the general manager could talk to me after she was done cutting the cake for a birthday party. I waited patiently. When the manager came she blamed everything on the server and explained that she herself was busy in the kitchen because a cook had called in. As a customer, this is not my problem. I don't care who called in. And as far as blaming the server, she was only doing what she was taught to do. I was offered and accepted a gift card for the price of my meal. I will NOT be back. I'll re-gift the card to some poor sucker at work that I don't like. As for me, I will never go back to this...
Read moreI must pick the worst times to stop in. I think I've been there 4 times now and although the food is good, the service sucks, and the staff can be really rude. I was there Saturday night of the water tower festival this past June (2025), and was told I had to wait to sit at the bar, 10 minutes later I was escorted to the bar and there was literally nobody sitting at the bar! As I waited for my food (BTW it was yummy) 2 local guys sat down next to me and after about 10 minutes of being ignored, they said "this happens all the time, it really gets hard to support this place" and then they got up and walked out. I guess the telling part of this story is how empty the place was, on what I am assuming is the busiest night of the year in Pipestone. It's really too bad as this place is really nice, and Pipestone needs a place like this. I've also noticed that nobody at the Stonehouse bothers to reply to reviews, good or bad, I guess that means the owners or managers...
Read moreI was a bit unsure of coming here for dinner based on some of the reviews but I am so glad we did!
It was busy, but we found a table near the pool table. We did sit for a bit waiting for a server but Nathan F arrived and boy did he deliver!
We started with chislic - a midwest staple - basically, it’s beef tips. We opted for grilled at medium and they were perfect. I ordered The Pig flatbread: pulled pork, applewood smoked bacon, shoulder bacon, BBq sauce and mozzarella cheese. It was delicious and I would have no problem ordering it again. Hubby ordered the fried shrimp plate and said it was good. Definitely not overcooked like in some restaurants.
Nathan was attentive but didn’t hover, he was friendly and welcoming. We even talked about his future travel plans. We would return here to eat again if we are...
