The Mall Deli — Restaurant in Pittsburg

My family was in Pittsburg on President's day doing some shopping and decided to try The Mall Deli for lunch due to recommendations from some friends back home. We got there around 11:30am on a Monday morning and was surprised to see a line to get in. While waiting in line we spoke to a couple in front of us to get some suggestions and they said, "try everything". I noticed the menu on the way in and was happy to see the prices are extremely reasonable! The Hostess and waitress were very friendly and did a great job in making us feel welcome. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich with chips and a side of potato salad. My wife got the Deli Burger with american cheese and grilled onions with chips. My son ordered the Nathan's Hot Dog with a side of chili. Everything was cooked to perfection! I have not had a Reuben sandwich in years, and I am once again hooked! Oh i almost forgot, the creamy Italian dressing was pretty good and we tried it with crackers as an appetizer before our meal came! Everything at The Mall Deli was done right, even down to the ice used in the soft drinks! You gotta have the crushed ice haha! Eaten here several times and just was never impressed with the food. It's not bad but there certainly never seems to be anything extraordinary about it either. Prices seem a little steep for a cold sandwich and a bag of chips. Portion sizes on whatever anyone in my group has ever ordered seems small. The place is clean and always packed, so other people in the area might see something that we don't. Because it's always been packed we usually wait longer than it seems we should have to despite the fact that everyone who works there seems to stay busy. Wait staff are friendly but seem too busy to give you much attention. I still always leave good tips, but it's because the server's are working so hard and not because I loved the food and the service...

The Mall Deli is a Pittsburg tradition with good reason. It offers first class service, food, cleanliness, and staff.

I have never received a bad meal or service at the Mall Deli in the 40 plus years I have had the pleasure to enjoy a meal there. Prices have always been a bargain for the quality and quantity of food your receive.

While they have many phenomenal sandwiches, soups, etc.; My favorite has always been the Chef Salad. An easy two meals worth of lettuce, ham, turkey, and cheese topped with a deviled egg half.
