I have been going here for over 20 years over the course of 4 ownerships.
Right now I am in my 70's and I still feel right at home and safe despite what others may say about the area.
When I first started coming here years ago, it was for the fish sandwiches when it was the Trio Bar. The newest owners who bought the bar in 2015 decided to bring back a fish fry on Fridays and it is just as good, if not better than my memories of the Trio's, and probably the best one in all of Pittsburgh! The other food on the menu that my husband and I have tried is also delicious and reasonably priced.
They do allow smoking but it is not as smoky in there as it gets in other smoking bars. The other regular customers are wonderful people, some of which have became great friends of mine over the years!

The only downsides are that the jukebox is inconsistently loud and that it is a smoking establishment.
Honestly, though, the quality of the food more than makes up for those two things. The cooks are all incredible and we've never had a bad meal. The burgers, meatball sandwiches, chicken parm sandwiches, country fried steak...you just can't make...
