My childhood second back yard, less than 2 blocks from our house! All Mom had to do, was whistle from the back porch, we'd hear her and come a runnin! Was such a great park to grow up playing in, sled riding, riding bikes, playing touch football, huge maple trees were our goalines! I ran as fast as I could, to beat out my Buddy Ralph, caught the ball, ran smack dab, full tilt too, right into one of the biggest trees, knocked me right bout, concussion, huge black eye and knot that swoll up, half the size of a baseball! red rover, wiffelball, IT around the monument, hide n go seak! Independence Day, we even got visited by uncle Sam((Mr. Butt), celebration included the entire neighborhood, Mr. Crowe would donate and supply the hotdog's and buns, bands would play in the bandstand, rolling pin throwing contests, water balloon toss, sack races, three legged races, watermelon eating contest, egg throwing contests, and many others!
