The food was delicious. We went during Saturday brunch which I was not expecting. Eventhough we had to order off of a small brunch menu, I was still very impressed with this restaurant. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table and our party size was only 2, but it was worth the wait. While we were waiting we tried some of the doughnuts they had. The doughnuts they had were Peanut butter cookie dough, peanut butter maple crunch (I am not 100% sure if that is what it was called), a glazed one that had strawberry icing and sprinkles on it, mint chocolate, and a maple pecan cinnamon roll. We had the two PB ones and the strawberry and they were all very good. The PB maple one was the best of the 3, but the PB cookie dough wasn't a big drop off. The strawberry was more normal in taste, but was good also. The dougnuts have a nice, light, airy taste that can't be explained. They were very sweet and fulfilling, but not heavy. I am allergic to cashews and they did a really good job on informing me about what had them in it and how they could alter things around my allergy. I ordered the shoot for the moon which is a waffle with blueberry compost, and lemon glaze drizzle. My fiancee ordered the McMaiden. Her sandwich had a chickpea "egg" on it with a tomato topped with cashew cheese all on an English muffin. I couldn't try the sandwich do to the cashews, but the waffle was incredible. It was very rich and sweet. The blueberries and lemon gave it a nice contrast. All of the brunch items come with tots and a kale salad. I don't know if it was because I was very hungry, but the kale salad was surprisingly good. I usually don't eat kale for the taste, I usually just eat it for the health benefits but the taste of this one was just as good as the health benefits. We will be coming back to the restaurant whenever we are...

This seems to be the "go to" Vegan spot for most in Pittsburgh, and I can't blame them. In my picture below are; Egg Rolls, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Dumplings, Cheese platter, which comes with literally the BEST deviled eggs, ever, seriously, you have to try them. You ever hear or see the commercial for "I CANT BELIEVE ITS NOT BUTTER!!!", no no no, I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE AREN'T ACTUALLY EGGS!! We've been here three times now, and it's amazing . My Fiancee who LOVES Chinese, and trust me, she's picky about bad Chinese. She said this is her second favorite egg roll.. So with that being said, I hope one day they do accept debit/credit, and have a way to call them :) - Either that, or make it easier to find their weekly specials. We often wonder what their specials are for the day (or week), but have a hard time finding it, and sometimes that will dictate where we go to eat! I understand that no phones=no masters, but you could literally just have a phone go to a voice mail/prompter stating "Our hours are X to X, cash only, and our specials are X. Please don't leave a voicemail as we do not check them, thank you." - Shrug, just an idea. I know most employers and company's don't like their employee's bringing in Cell Phones, but having a Store Phone would make it so Employee's can turn off their phone in confidence knowing they have a way to contact their family if they need to for...

We absolutely loved this place. Our quick search for vegan food in the area led us to this absolute treasure. The Nachos are divine and were the biggest hit of the table. Also, the cheesecake was the next top choice -as our dairy allergic family member had been craving cheesecake for so long! She loved it, and said it tasted exactly like cheesecake and was something she'll crave until she can come back into town and have it again.

We also got some awesome dumplings and a hotdog, both of which were excellent and well priced. Our other main dish, the dark bowl pictured, was an excellent variety and a tasty dish.

The atmosphere of Onion Maiden was lovely. It felt upscale yet cosy, with clean lines and great textures. The music was on point with the theme and we spent most of our premeal conversation laughing at the puns on rhe menu and enjoying the space (while discussing if the cheesecake would really taste like cheesecake).

The waitstaff was super friendly and I loved the local postings on the bulletin board up front.

I can honestly say i can't wait to go again and I'm shocked thst I am saying that about a Vegan place. Yes, we are careful about lactose, but we also geberally love the flavors of eggs and meat. This place opened us up to loving Vegan food and not throwing it in your face (well, it was all very metal but not so intense).

Thanks again...
