So I want to start out by saying that our waitress was great and very apologetic during our experience at the restaurant. That being said, we did not have a good experience at this restaurant.
First off, the restaurant is extremely loud. May have been where we were seated near the hostess stand, but it was unbearably loud. The restaurant has all hard surfaces, so sounds just bounce off everything, amplifying the problem. The restaurant is BYOB for now as well.
I ordered a horchata, and it was ok. Essentially just milk with sweetener and cinnamon. It was missing the depth of traditional horchata. We also ordered bacon guacamole, which is $15. This price point isn’t bad for great guacamole, however this was not great. The guacamole was brought to our table and the waitress briefly mixed it around within the molcajete. It was essentially muddling and bruising all of the ingredients. The bacon bits were generic and did not add anything to the experience. Overall, the guacamole was average.
Our main meals were served to the table beside us. Another waitress grabbed our dishes from the kitchen and served a table of four, our two dishes… I noticed this when one of the gentlemen said he did not order the enchiladas and one of the women was served my girlfriends dish. The wait staff continued as normal so I called their attention to this. They apologized and said they were remaking my girlfriends dish as quick as possible. Our waitress offered to make us margarita’s in the mean time. When we were served our food, I suspect I received the same dish that the waitress had tried to previously serve as my food was not hot. My girlfriend ordered the crispy salmon and it was burnt, not crispy. She proceeded to cut into her salmon and it was raw in the middle. Cold to the touch. We showed the waitress and she had it taken back to the kitchen where they cooked it more. When it came back, it was destroyed into many pieces. It looked like it came out of a can at that point. My enchilada’s were lupe warm and sub par tasting. The rice was flavorful and actually well spiced.
I expected maybe they would either comp the salmon or give a slight discount for the trouble we went through, however, they did not.
Overall I would say we had a very offputting experience. Our waitress did handle the situation as well as she could. Most of the issues were out off her control, which is why I am giving...
Read moreI own a small business in the nearby area and booked a Cinqo De Mayo gathering a few weeks in advance for 14 my employees and significant others. When my first employee arrived, staff informed him that our reservation was cancelled because they called once at some point closer to the reservation to re-confirm and I didn't answer. I didn't show any missed calls from this business' main phone number. Even if they did call from a different number, why only call once and not leave a VM or a text message and automatically cancel a reservation for a large group? Disappointed because I did have two phone conversations on the day of the reservation to find out what they were doing special for that day. Embarrassed that I didn't have a place for my employees but lesson learned that I should re-confirm myself for a company outing. Right after I got the bad news from my employee, I called the restaurant to see if they could accommodate us and they told us that maybe they could squeeze us in about an hour and a half later with no apology offered. Asked to speak to the owner and he said he was too busy. No thank you for maybe 1.5 hours later. We scrambled last minute to find a place that could fit all of us and fortunately we did find a place and have a wonderful evening. They should have different procedures on how to handle larger groups in the future like informing people at the reservation that they will be reconfirming the reservation 2 days prior to the actual reservation, take down an email address, send a text, and leave a VM. I happily would have put down a deposit if asked, if it meant securing our table. Instead we spent $800 elsewhere. I was looking forward to patronizing this small business, but think we will no longer...
