I am truly a huge fan of canteen 900, been going there since it open. So I heard canteen park was opening and heard what they were going to be offering I was supper Excited For a tappas in an opportunity to enjoy different kind of drinks as into alcohol beverages . The design of an old gas station transferred into a restaurant is very very cool. Has a hipster theme. The service was outstanding my waitress was very pleasant and very knowledgeable of the menu and the alcohol beverages that are being served,She was also very timely she was on the spot even if I notice that I think she was the only one working outside .. I think the menus crying confusing drinks and food share the same card. I understand they want to blend the drink what the food but it can be confusing to much work.I ordered one of the bourbon drinks off the menu he was on the sour side. It was tasty but there is way too much ice inside the drink for the price. For a $12 drink I would have expected more liquid, We ordered the toasted for which was pretty cool I saw pictures on the case book before I ordered. And I was very intrigued about the comp set. I would highly suggest people to order them. But pictures on Facebook and a product that I received really don't match ours were a little small on the side . We ordered the portabella sandwich on for For foccica they ran out of the cheese t9hey goes on the sandwich that was a little disappointing When I received it I had no flavor all I tasted it was mushroom .The side of olives were tasty. They should put it in the menu that it is all a cart. That the sandwiches don't have a chip or a small thing of pasta salad . I'll probably will wait a few mths to go before I go back. I really did like the fact they transfer a gas station into a restaurant and I hope they do as well as they did with...
Read moreThis place is absolutely lovely. From the moment I walked in I was impressed; the Cantina feels very comfortable and casual, the kind of place you feel like you can just drop in to eat. The wait staff was attentive and polite, and they made myself and my friend feel quite comfortable. The open air feel, courtesy of the large opening windows, gave the Cantina a "street dining" feel, something you can't get in Pittston anywhere else. The menu is pretty diverse, but I ordered their signature sandwich with chips, as well as an iced coffee. They did not disappoint. The portion sizes were excellent, and the sandwich was cooked to perfection. It was delicious, yet simple; the chips (cooked on-site) were tasty and well done. Seeing the large sandwich come across the room was delightful; the presentation of the iced coffee even more so. We eat with our eyes first, and my eyes were immensely pleased. The coffee was a cold can of coffee served with a small pitcher of cream, a glass of ice, and sugar packets on the side. (I substituted the sugar packets with brown sugar from the kitchen, which they happily provided.) The drink was delicious, refreshing, and and very smooth.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to returning once the restaurant properly opens. The only complaint might be the pricing; it's a little high for the average income bracket of the area, but I didn't really feel like I overpaid. The experience was a treat and well...
Read moreCanteen Park is big city modern/industrial charm tucked into a small, unique space in a relatively suburban neighborhood. I believe it's important to recognize the work that is put into the selection on the menu, because this is where Canteen Park truly shines. Hip, compact variety platters that you'd expect from a dedicated Tapas restaurant come here to live amongst fabulous, rustic-style 'mixed drinks' that change based on the ingenuity and skill of the bartender-- always good, often spectacular. You really get what you pay for, so the price tags may be off-putting to frequenters of local dives that still serve dollar beers. But, good craftsmanship shouldn't be cheap. It is my genuine belief that, along with its health-conscious sister spot - Canteen 900 - Canteen Park will be remembered as one of the trend-setting model businesses showcasing the positive effects of gentrification in the Wilkes-Barre area. The owners' skill for reappropriating industrial buildings into luminary restaurants is astounding....
