Monroe’s Bakery — Restaurant in Pittsville

We had the pleasure of stopping in to this bakery last week. While they are just getting their feet wet, they had a decent amount of options and have said they will be expanding further, with many more options.

First, we tried the cookies. We ended up getting 1 of each. Choc choc chip and peanut butter were the best, in our opinion. The Oreo cookies and cream, strawberry pop tart and choc chip were also very good. Crisp yet gooey and moist in the center. I’ll definitely be back for more.

Second, we tried the cinnamon buns. Wow were they good! Just as with the cookies, the outer part of the roll was deliciously crisp while the interior being decadent and buttery. I could eat these by the dozen.

Lastly, I saved the best for last. That coconut cake was ridiculously good. 3 layers of moist cake resting inside of amazing icing shrouded in shaved coconut. I’ve had me some coconut cake at a lot of places, this is one of the best.

While they have just opened up, they offer a good selection of pastries and breads while they navigate the process of meeting customer demands. Get there early, as they have sold out before closing. I ordered a custom birthday cake for my daughter for her 13th bday. She designed the cake by drawing it. We sent in the picture with details about colors, patterns, fruit decorations and flavors. They did a great job giving us what we wanted. The communication was excellent and I was given a detailed breakdown of the price. The final product was a beautiful confetti cake (request by my daughter) with strawberry filling. The outside was decorated with pastel colors to match the spa theme. This shop is adorable, the owners are extremely friendly, and the food...I don't have words. It's a small space but they have so many options (I purchased a nice mix of cookies, donuts, and pastries) I had a hard time deciding what to start with! The chocolate chip cookie croissant won.
