Potbelly — Restaurant in Plainfield

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNSANITARY I have never wrote a Google review ever until today, I’m extremely furious, horrified and sickened. Whoever made my sand-which needs to get fired IMMEDIATELY!!! I love potbelly and have had great experiences at OTHER locations this was my FIRST time coming to this drive-through location NEVER AGAIN. I was eating my sandwich and it somewhat tasted like burnt bread so I didn’t think too deep into it until I got towards the end and it started to taste like chemicals, I started to feel like I couldn’t clear my throat because I felt bits of WHAT SEEMS TO BE the left over burnt food particles, grease and chemicals from the grill is when it is cleaned, my throat was burning and itching, who knows what else they did to my food, they basically POISONED my food, after an hour or two my stomach got extremely upset, I had heart burn and felt like throwing up. I don’t know who thought that this was a joke to play with somebody’s HEALTH. Whoever made my sandwhich tampered with it, they PURPOSELY PUT IT IN MY SANDWICH you can tell because of where they chose to add that disgusting burnt residue from the grill. I threw that piece from the sandwhich away and my other half that I had left including my cookie SMH. Waste of money and time. Please talk to this staff member immediately....

We usually come here and have no problems. Went through the drive thru, watched one of the employees drop the empty bag on the floor and then pick it up and start putting napkins and silverware in it. I asked for different bag because it fell on the floor. Then watched the manager drop one of the toppings that goes on our salad on the floor (in the package) and pick it up and throw it in our bag. They also gave us someone else's food (an extra sandwich), I took everything back in and asked for a refund - watched them grab the extra sandwich (the one that was just in a complete strangers car) and give it to the next customer. I'm pretty confident that practice is against food safety code and illegal 🤔.

Manager had a bit of an attitude when I asked for a refund, which is kind of wild because I was so calm and waited patiently while they finished up with the rest of the drive thru line.

Feels like a no brainer to not pick items up off the floor and put them near people's food. And it's definitely a no branier to follow health codes. Makes me question their other...

I always go to this potbelly. Have had no issues. Most recently as of tonight, I had a different experience and am a little disappointed. At the drive thru, we watched a person prepare our meal without gloves. (Mac and cheese) realized they forgot an ingredient, took out the Mac and cheese, scooped out some and put it back in the mac and cheese bin, scooped the other ingredient. (We asked for chili on top) then put it back in the bag. It was a little uncomfortable watching him, again without gloves, scoop already prepared mac and cheese back into the bin where he would then serve more customers from. I worry about allergies and other aspects for other people. We Asked for a bowl of soup, paid for a bowl of soup and received a cup. I also got a chocolate shake that they left on the counter and I received a bit watery. They did not give us a receipt either.
