Long review but this place is so amazing 20/10 if you want a straight to the point feedback.. no offense it makes all other empanada places look like a joke..

The owner is the one in the kitchen and makes the food using her mothers recipe (🕊️ may she continue to rest in heavenly peace) Her mothers picture is also on the wall..

Food is 20 out of 10. Ruth is the one who took our order and served us. She was also 20 out of 10 with her customer service. Prices are ridiculously good.. Music was great.

I had 2 empanadas the ones recommended as a first timer there by Ruth are a spicy beef and then a chicken .. 🔥 🔥🔥 i mean 🤤 OMG OMG they were soooo good the sauces we had along i forgot the names of those but sooo good..see my pic

The owner is so humble i thought she was just an employee who came to wipe tables until i started asking questions to Ruth and realized she was the owner because the food was that good.. unfortunately i did not get the owner name but we ran into Shy as we walked out who is either her husband or is co owner who asked us questions to make sure our service and food was amazing which indeed it was because i went back there an hour later to get more as we were hanging out in the same lot area at another joint that opened at 4p.

Try chipotle sauce as recommended by Shy i forgot to get it 2nd time as i was a bit tipsy by then.

The Daiquiri drinks i had Miami Vice.. guys this place is a hidden 💎.. It’s monday i want to go back but i see it’s closed today so will have to be there tomorrow with my kids so they try it too.. It perfect for adults only and or with family - kids.

Also Shy recommended the mediterranean place next door i think they own both places so will try it too a different time I forgot to also get the name of the mediterranean place.

Overall please go you will feel welcomed and the food is just 20/10...

When I tell you, my cousin got tacos next door. I saw this place and saw it had Puerto Rican food and I knew I needed to try it. Even though the owner hadn’t officially opened her fryer was on and decided to Hook me. When I tell you being from NY and the owner being a fellow New Yorker, this place does not disappoint! The empanadas were sooo crispy and flavorable!! When I tell you these are extremely delicious you gotta try. I will be telling all my ppl to come to this spot and get some delicious empanadas. I even got the sauce which is her families special recipe make sure you get it, soo good. I even got the cocoquito mad good! The apple empanada was delicious sweet treat! These empanadas were crispy not ya heavy outter shell, very light but so crispy. I got the spicy beef and cheese it had the right kick but the flavor of the beef and cheese combo was to die for!! The chicken empanada gave me a taste of home. The food is definitely worth it and I will...

Quality empanadas right here! My order was the classic beef and chicken empanadas with hard Jarritos and side of chimichuri. Wait time was less than ten minutes on a Thursday evening. There was only one server and one cook.

Both empanadas: golden crispy shell with the meat still holding plenty of juice.

Beef Empanada: Stuffed with a lot of ground beef. Juicy in the inside. Seasoning was great!

Chicken Empanada: Like the ground beef, stuffed with ground chicken + small amounts of peppers. Juicy in the inside!

The chimichuri was thick where it wasn’t dripping on my hand when I dipped the empanadas in them and tasted real good!

For about $12, not including tip, the price and quality match each other and worth tipping 20% and more from how great...

DFW #1 SPOT for AUTHENTIC Puerto Rican Food 🇵🇷 EMPANADA JOINT📍 I come here at least twice a month, its sooo good!! And I finally tried the Saturday Special The pulled pork bowl! It was flavorful and fresh. Personally I am not a fan a pork but I enjoyed the flavors of the bowl as whole! And for the main event.. those empanadas?! Omg! My favorites are the spicy cheese & beef, chicken, and the guava & cheese! My goal is to try every flavor by the end of the month👀👀 I’M obsessed! And pleaseee DON’T SLEEP on the Tostones! They are fried plantains, a sweet and salty side🤤 Would you visit the Empanada Joint? . . . #dfwfoodie #thecolonytx #empanadas #puertoricanfood #dfweats #tostones #dfwrestaurants #dallasfood

A flavorful taste of home! When I came across this joint I knew right away it was legit because of two little New York details in what they have to offer. The green and white plantain chip bag (you don't see that particular bag in TX) and the malta drink just confirmed that she was a true Puerto Rican serving up those empanadas I knew my taste buds was in for a treat and the owner Lissette made sure of that. She and her sister Rose brought be back to my hometown with the music, vibes and that authentic food. I cant wait to see the menu expand.. My overall experience and the food was a 10 out of 10 and if needing somewhere to start a true New Yorker knows its with the original beef, with tostones and a Pepsi!
