Taqueria Monterrey — Restaurant in Plant City

We LOVE to support local small businesses and Monterey Taqueria is definitely that. It's located on corner lot and impossible to miss. The restaurant is tiny, clean (ish), and situated in a seemingly old building. With the limited seating and lack of public bathroom, it's definitely more suited to take out than dine in. We ordered chicken tacos. My daughter chose a' la carte, I opted to make mine a meal and asked for double beans instead of beans and rice. The chips in our chips and salsa starter seemed either stale or cooked in too low a temperature. The tacos were average. The toppings bar was authentic and might be a good idea outside the pandemic, but considering a lack of hand washing sinks, I'd say the toppings bar stressed me out and being that it was a do it yourself toppings, it was a bit pricey. The best part of this eatery was the owners who were super friendly and accommodating. They seemed to either have a report or be building a rapport with all who entered. This restaurant is one of the best restaurants that I have eaten at, they have really good prices, and amazing food. They are really quick to bring you your food and they are super nice. They even have self serve if you don’t like cilantro, onion, or salsa.

I also want to add that I lost my card and I called them thinking maybe I lost it there and they were looking for it everywhere and called me back and apologized, they are literally so sweet.
