I've heard about Maryland Fried Chicken for years from co-workers that live in and near Plant City, so since I happened to be in the area I made a stop by with high expectations. Sometimes that's the worst thing you can do is expect more than usual. Well, I'm happy to say that this chicken, cooked in what I believe is refined peanut oil, was Delicious with a capital D! It was about 12:30 ish, what I image is peak lunch time so it was crowded.
There isn't a drive-thru so you do have to get out of your car but there's a walkup window similar to a drive-thru window. There were several people in line at the window but I chose to go inside the restaurant. Although you could go inside to order, as well as the side window, there was no dining in allowed. So I placed my order to a masked staff and received my order quickly, very quickly compared to what I'm used to.
I had a 35 minute drive home so I didn't get the fries, instead I order two of the same meals for the wife and myself. The order was 3-piece meal with mash potatoes and gravy [absolutely delicious, no joke] and potato salad. I wasn't so crazy about the potato salad but the wife loved it. I think I'll try the baked beans next time.
The food was still warm when I got home too. The only thing I can think of that I didn't like was the boxes, yeah the boxes. They were so flimsy that they couldn't be held. If you tried the food would fall out of the bottom. You receive the food in a plastic bag with the company's name and it was plenty strong enough to hold the food for both meals, but the boxes...
Ooh! I forgot to mention, the smell is deliciously different. The wife says it smells similar to Chic-fil-a. I'm not sure I agree but whatever it reminds me of the memory is pleasant. I'm definitely...
Read moreWhat In the HELL are all the good star reviewers talking about???? This is some of the worst old tasting chicken I have ever had. If you like this place you:
A. Can't cook worth a dang and B. Have no friends that can cook soul food either! The ONLY reason they are getting 1 star is for their good customer service.
First off they gizzards are BOILED and THEN FRIED and you could taste it immediately! I was so sure that I asked the cook when he came out of the back and he confirmed. They taste like boiled mush with the taste and consistency of liver instead of gizzards. The fried chicken is just ok and EXTREMELY GREASY at best! The biscuits are so dry and cheap they will choke you until DEATH!!! The place is cash only so that is also a negative but no worries because I will never eat this awful chicken again! I tried this place on the suggestion of a co-worker that I would now...
Read moreManager Flor was extremely rude. As I was attempting to get information from her she stated she was going to hang up now because she had a business to run. I was unaware they close at 5:00 pm on Saturdays. Arrived about 15 minutes before closing and was told they had no more breast at first then in the same sentence stated they had no more chicken in the entire store. In reality she begin saying how long it would take the fryers to start up by ready and they had already begun cleaning. I guess this means they actually close before 5:00 pm as the website stated. By the way, I drove about an hour to get here. I stayed in their parking lot to write this review and at 5:09 pm they were closed and began leaving the premises one by one. They certainly could have had more business $$$ for the day because many cars drove up thinking they were open......Poor...
