My girlfriend and i arrived for our 4th time here, took 11 minutes to be greeted at the bar, finally ordered mozzeralla wedges and they wefe frozen so we sent them back. Get 2nd batch and its still cold so we tell them not to worry about it and the bartender sticks her finger in the wedge to argue that it isnt frozen, “it’s cold.” Then we hear her chef tell her to ‘86’ them which means quit serving. Then we get our entrees and are served pierogies that are black and cooked on a disgusting grill. After all this; she asks me 5 minutes later; i get asked in a condescending tone; “is your hoagie cooked okay?”

Tavern In The Hills, hidden on a hill down a two-lane residential road, can be easy to miss if you are not looking for it. However, you should not do that, for this place is a hidden gem. We started with the Bavarian Pretzel Sticks, which were good. Then, we got our entrees. I got the BBQ Pork Pierogies, as I wanted to try some pierogies, which Pittsburgh is known for, while my brother got the Tavern Quesadillas. My BBQ Pork Pierogies were savory and delicious, and my brother enjoyed his Tavern Quesadillas. In short, Tavern In The Hills is a hidden gem and I strongly recommend it.

Tavern In The Hills in Jefferson Hills Pa is a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of comfort, relaxation, and culinary excellence. It's a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and simply enjoy the company of good friends, good food, and good beer. Whether you're a beer enthusiast, a food lover, or simply someone looking for a cozy and inviting atmosphere, Tavern in the Hills is sure to exceed your expectations. We continue to be impressed by the meals, drinks, and the friendly atmosphere. If you haven’t tried tavern in the hills, you really should!

As a first time visited eatery, this place scored low. I will give it a second try in the near future and edit as needed. As I said it was our first time here and they were busy, part of the problem no doubt. We were seated quickly, ordered drinks and then parmesan wedges, wings, a pork chop for me, salad for the wife and a side of soup for me. The food was presented to us in the exact opposite order that we ordered. First my soup, was very good. Then the pork chop and a salad came out, pork chop was tough but passable, salad was great. Wings were brought out while we were still eating the main course, they were very hot so they cooled while we were finishing up the meal. The wings were a bit overcooked and dried out but eatable for the most part. as we were finishing the wings, the appetizer showed up, swimming in a pool of oil as they weren't drained and they were overdone so we didn't eat them at all. All in all we were full but the meal was less than perfect in many ways. Because they were very busy, I will give them a second chance in a week or two and edit this review. Many people love this place, it just didn't satisfy me. But being a fair guy, I will go back for a second...

Very bad experience! The waitress/bartender was very rude! She actually argued with us and accused us saying, that is what you ordered, I only brought what you asked, and we were like no we didn't, and she was like, YES you did, and was actually getting loud...Never brought me things I ordered and had nerve to charge me, and then she actually looked at me when she handed me the bill and said I brought you that, and I said NO you didn't! She was like o, I got really busy.. she was standing at the bar talking to someone for over 15 min! Never got any refills on drinks! Flies all over where you are sitting and eating! Most tables were filled with old cups and dishes, very dirty! I hope they have cameras so they can see how lazy and rude she was! I BEG YOU, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! If I could give a lower score I would! On a positive note,...

8/22/25 I rarely dine at this establishment and certainly would not recommend it unless desperation predominates. The spinach salad was passable and a number of house flies alighted on vacant tables. Sorry, but this is something that I absolutely cannot tolerate in a restaurant.

The only item I can currently recommend on the menu is the Valentine's Day dessert (chocolate torte cake), which most likely is ordered from a bakery. It was very good; beautifully decorated; portion size more appropriate for two people. In which case, the price tag of $10 would be reasonable. However, I was not aware of the price when I ordered it and was rather aghast when I looked at the check. Therefore, no tip (which could have explained the price of the cake). Note: Consult Black's Law Dictionary for the meaning of tort...
