I find myself stuck in a hotel in West Mifflin, PA, just outside Pittsburgh waiting for a vehicle repair. I was looking to spend some time outside on a gorgeous summer day close to the hotel. I found this park on Google maps and decided to give it a try. Google got me pretty close, but was a block off. It is in the middle of a neighborhood, so I luckily saw a sign pointing to the Aboretum.
What a beautiful place. It's not huge, but there is a nice hiking path, some educational signage, a few story telling boards for kids, and lots of wild flowers. The trees around the small meadow provide plenty of shade. Above all, this is a very peaceful place.

Over all this was a very pleasant experience. I would definitely come here often if I lived...
Read moreThis a truly lovely place, lots of habitat for wildlife to exist when humans have taken over so much the wild. It was very disappointing to see the sign about hunting now being allowed. Not only am I opposed to the slow, cruel death of deer dying slowly and painfully by arrow, being blamed for the causes of human urbanization, I also shouldn't have to worry about being shot myself in the middle of a small suburban park area due to a hunter's negligence and inability to tell deer from human. It's a shame because I love coming here. I hope the folks in charge will reconsider the blight this choice is having on the place. We shouldn't have to go buy orange vests just to...
Read moreThis place will always be dear to my heart. It's a wonderful place in the middle of Pleasant Hills when you can take in nature. Love it here❤️ if your lucky enough you will run into Paul who can take you on a hike through the Arboretum. He's loaded with information on trees and...
