Have come here twice hoping to order a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and both times were unfortunately to my disappointment. The first time was a few months ago, when they were out of steak. The second time was yesterday - pulled in at 8:45PM (store closes at 9:00PM) and was instantly greeted with "we only have cold subs right now." Apparently the kitchen (e.g. grill, etc...) closes 1 hour earlier than the store's hours, meaning you can only order cold subs after ~8:00PM. The gentleman working the counter went on to voluntarily explain that if he were to sell me a hot sandwich, it would take him an entire hour to clean it all over again. There was no acknowledgement of the inconvenience, and the attitude was as though I (the customer) was the inconvenience for even coming in for a sub that would take them an extra hour of work. It made me wonder if when they're out of a random ingredient, if they would proactively detail out how it'd pain them to go out of their way to a grocery market just so you can have your sandwich, instead of just saying 'sorry, we're out of right now. I'm not debating that the grill should not be cleaned on the clock, and did not even think of asking him to turn the grill back on, but fast food places generally close their grills after posted store hours. If workers have to turn off the lights and clock out by 9:00PM, they should update their store hours accordingly (e.g. 8:00PM) or disclose that the menu is limited after 8:00PM. If they're closing their grills early because business is slow, this entire setup is not going to bring in more business. This was especially unfortunate as I had set my GPS for this particular location coming in all the way from Yosemite (I make the long distance drive between the Bay Area and Yosemite very often) so that I could grab a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich on my way home after a long drive. I should have stuck with the original destination (in Tracy), but figured the one in Pleasanton was closer to home, and the sandwich would stay warmer. I did not end up buying a cold sub as that was entirely not what I had detoured off the freeway to purchase. Despite my experience, I'm sure other customers who are fans of any subs would have had a positive experience coming in the...
Read moreI had the displeasure of finding out that a catering order I had placed earlier this week for my team of 30 employees had not been made after arriving shortly after my scheduled pickup time today.
The manager or supervisor on duty had not checked in with the counter staff prior to my coming in, and so nothing was prepared or in the process of being prepared. This was not due to a technical issue, simply a lack of preparedness and due diligence.
On finding this out, he did not apologize and simply said, "We screwed up. It will be thirty minutes."
It was not thirty minutes, but was instead an hour and fifteen minutes before I received the sandwiches that I had ordered. I was offered a set of 4 free sandwiches (roughly the equivalent in price to the prepaid tip that I now know better than to leave before receiving my ordered food in hand), and no refund. The 4 coupons were also initially given to me by an employee rather than the manager or supervisor on duty, and then offered by the MoD after the fact.
Needless to say, I declined the free sandwich coupons both times and will not be procuring this establishment again. A shame, since I believe their quality of sandwiches is generally good and we are moving our offices to the area so placing catering orders would have been...
Read moreJersey Mike’s in Pleasanton consistently delivers great service and satisfying subs. Every time I’ve visited, the staff has been friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming—it makes a difference when you walk in and they’re ready to help with a smile. The store is always clean, and the line moves quickly even during the lunch rush, which I really appreciate.
The sandwiches are solid. Fresh bread, crisp toppings, and the signature “Mike’s Way” seasoning always bring the flavors together nicely. I usually go for the turkey or roast beef, and the portions are generous enough to fill you up without leaving you feeling overly stuffed.
That said, I’ve noticed Jersey Mike’s portions of meat tend to be a bit lighter compared to the sandwiches at the Whole Foods deli nearby. Whole Foods tends to pile on the protein more, especially when you’re customizing a sandwich at the counter. It’s not a huge deal, but if you’re looking strictly at meat-to-bread ratio, Whole Foods might edge them out.
Still, the convenience, consistency, and excellent customer service at Jersey Mike’s Pleasanton keep me coming back. If you’re looking for a quick, quality sandwich with friendly service, this location is...
