We visited Dons as my stepdaughter raved about their steaks. But let’s just say, since we already have (or had) our fav place for steaks, Dons already had a tough challenge to beat. The decor was rustic and down home. The waitresses were young girls, but very nice. I ordered grilled catfish and Jason ordered the 12 oz Ribeye. . The Ribeye was cooked to medium perfection and was tender. It was a bit fatty and lacked seasoning but overall not bad. My grilled catfish was another story- not seasoned and had a somewhat dirt-aftertaste, as though I was getting a flavor of the type of fish I wanted to forget I was eating. Overall it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing and we probably wouldn’t go back unless that was the only place open or I’m in this area and want nothing but steak. Again…Customer service was awesome!

I had heard from a coworker that the food was good, and that they have the best catfish in town. I ended up ordering the prime rib and the sides I chose were fries and Texas toast. I ordered my steak, medium rare. Was cooked to perfection. The fries seemed old, however they were tasty. The Texas toast was also good if you’re ever in town, please try Don steakhouse. It’s a good establishment for local residents coming from Jonesboro to Pocahontas is not worth the drive unless you plan to spend some time in Pocahontas overall I was satisfied, and I do recommend the food and the prices were reasonable the waitress and staff were very friendly.

I walked in to place a to-go order and was left standing there as employees walked past me for almost 15 minutes before anyone ever acknowledged that I was standing there. Being black, I'm used to this treatment in this part of the world. Ordered, what I thought, was the 2 piece grilled catfish filet dinner. What I actually received was to very well seasoned, slightly overcooked grilled catfish strips. The sweet potatoes were cooked perfectly. On further thought, It actually looks like 1 fillet cut in half, lol. You can't make this stuff up.

Salad bar lacked options, no eggs, black olives, bacon bits, ham, and tomatoes were giant chunks. Like who puts pineapple on their salad over black olives, ham or egg? They brought out a box of bacon bits and then handed us a full cup as if we needed that much on our small side salads. Ordered medium rare sirloin steaks that were served rare and cold. The food was absolutely terrible for being a steakhouse. I was so embarrassed to have recommended coming here that I didn't even say anything due to the party I was with. Normally i would complain to management.

But do not recommend it.

The texas toast however was probably the best toast i have ever had. The loaded baked potato was only loaded with butter and sour cream. I was expecting a fully loaded baked potato. Service was good for the town I guess. Either way service without the food will not keep guests coming back. Unfortunately for the people that live here, this is all they have.

If you're traveling through just keep on trucking. If you're a resident here travel somewhere else and experience a well-cooked meal in...

Traveling through Pocahontas for vacation and this place came highly recommended. We needed a casual place for dinner. This place was HOPPIN. I mean we walked in and they said they'd clean a table "in just a minute." It was seriously just a minute. We got menus and ordered drinks - not even a minute later, they were on the table! The food was hot and fresh, to say nothing of how delicious it was! Best fried catfish I have had in years. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The salad bar was well stocked with a decent variety of toppings. The dressing tasted a bit off, and I wasn't terribly impressed with their selection of foods on the menu. Regardless, they had enough options for my father with kidney disease to find something he liked and could eat without issue. It was delicious and we enjoyed it.

Beyond that, the picture of the black lab is the owner's dog. They have a tip jar for local volunteer animal shelter that provides low-cost veterinarian services. Any place that cares about animals this much has to have a good heart to it. Hope we can eat there on...

Very dissatisfied for the first time after being a loyal customer ever since it opened.

Waited for right at 45 minutes for a plate lunch that is already prepared and on what used to be a buffet.

Over priced compared to what they were when the buffet was open.

Server has too many tables to serve and it shows in her personality. She blames a person in the back for being “really busy” so she is unable to make one plate of already prepared food.

I wish we had not come here. Left unfed because “she” whomever “she” is, had to make gravy because they ran out. Why would that be necessary when working a food bar that has everything for lunch prepared and sitting there on it? Every worker in the place is able to see when any item is running low, and it is a standard item on the food bar and so it should be a routine procedure.

I’m just really disappointed because it used to be...
