I was staying at camelback and the food was just horrible. We were driving to Walmart when I saw tropical fare I was shocked i immediately went online to read the reviews and again I was shocked. That they had so positive feedback. So I went ahead and called them on Friday to see what they had on the menu and I did ask the owner what was popular he was patient and honest. I went there later on with my husband and I told him I hope what you said is true he laughed and realize who he was talking to. My husband ordered the large stew chicken with rice and peas, it came with sweet plantain and cabbage he said it was really good just wish he got more plantains lol the veggies were perfect.
I ordered the famous jerk pork with rice and peas, cabbage n sweet plantains and I was blown away. Veryyy flavorful and it wasn’t dry at all. They gave u a lot for ur money. I had to make sure it was really a small bc the tray look like a medium. I was just a little upset bc he forgot my jerk sauce but next time I will remind them.
My daughter got the curry chicken and white rice meal and again delicious
I also ordered a side of Mac n cheese out of all the Mac n cheese I’ve had at a Jamaican restaurant this one was by far the best. $5.00
I also ordered lol a mild beef patty with coco bread wow wow wow it was supposed to be milk but it was spicy but that’s ok. It was worth it. It definitely puts golden krust to shame and every other Jamaican Patty show.
I can’t wait to come back to PA and try the oxtail. Thank you again...
Read moreI ordered two large plates of curried oxtail. The food was old, dry and not fresh. The rice was at least 3 days old and so hard like it wasn't even cooked and just put on the plate. Nothing had any flavor. I don't know how a restaurant can serve food this bad and not feel bad for the quality they are giving their customers. We waited 35 minutes for nothing. The food wasn't fresh so I don't know what took them so long to put it all together. The plantains were the only thing on the plate that was cooked fresh and had taste to it. This was obviously not because of the restaurant but because sweet plantains are AWESOME! I tried this place for the first time today because the normal restaurant me and my family normally go to and love was closed. I will never go back to this place again. We spent good money on two plates full of tasteless, overcooked and dry meat, cabbage and rice. The owners of this place should be ashamed of themselves for selling such garbage. Also it wasn't authentic curry Jamaican at all. This place will not be open for much longer if they continue to sell such low quality old not fresh food. I uploaded a picture of the rice so you can witness exactly how dry and old it is. It rastes like you are eating carsboard. In fact cardboard has more flavor and isn't as dry. I am still shocked the owners believe it is okay to pass this food onto customers without feeling guilty....
Read moreNear where I was coming from I noticed a Jamaican restaurant.I stopped in to see how the food tasted. I must say that the prices were very expensive for what I ordered. The jerk pork was not fully cooked . It was wet and still had the bloody rate to it . As the person told me if I can wait 10 min. He will have it cooked. As he had none ready at the time . I waited.the woman that prepared the pork put jerk sauce all over the meat to mask the fact that pork was fully cooked. ( I am a cook and knows what is fully cooked)the jerk chicken was ok …a little dry as it was not fresh .i can’t complain about the chicken . It was seasoned pretty good (could have had a little more spice to it tho) the peas and rice was ok it had little flavor to it but could have rate if it had gravy . I opted out because it looked like the curry chicken and oxtails were swimming in oil . I had high hopes for the small restaurant but I will pass next time I’m in the area. Btw today was a very very hot day. They have absolutely no air conditioning in the searing area. Although I was not pleased with the food the staff were nice. Also it is...
