Mariscos El Ostion — Restaurant in Pomona

Food: Amazing. Bomb. Mouthwatering. I ordered the ceviche “chore mix” which is camarón and pescado with chile. It’s not spicy though. Got a large serving and my boyfriend and I devoured it. My bf got the modelo and I got a Limonjito(which is limon, cucumber, and chile blend) … taste alot like a Michoacana paleta. Total we spent was $40 which is pretty great.

Service: there are about 3-4 floor staff. In a busy day I could easily see them being overwhelmed and overworked but the ladies are speedy - and we never waited more than 15 min between check-ins. They are super attentive and kind, and knowledgeable.

Atmosphere: the walls are painted blue - no decor but honestly they can afford not to - the food is that good. I came on a Friday, where they had a group of men playing live music and singing corridos. It’s definitely very Sinaloa vibes. Definitely a loud atmosphere but familiar.

I heard the mariscos were very good at this restaurant and indeed everything I had was very Good. The only downside was the service. We got there at around 5:40 we got one plate at around 6:00 no big deal and the other person's plate around 15 minutes after again no big deal however by 6:30 the waitresses started cleaning up and putting the tables and chairs away and we asked what time do you close, since it was our first time there, and they said 7:00. We were trying to finish our food and they pretty much kicked us out of the restaurant so we asked for containers to take our food. Maybe you need to train your staff on customer service. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was nostalgic. However, there a critical error. The restaurant misadvertised the price of their food. We asked the waitress why there was a discrepancy between the menu and the check. The waitress claimed that there prices on the menu were out dated and her manager told her how to price our meal. That is a serious lack of business ethics not to mention it's completely dishonest to the costumer. For example the Mojara Rellena was $16.00 on the menu, on the check was $18.00 and the Camarones Empanizado was $13.00 the charged $14.00. They only fixed the price of the...
