For what it's worth, it's a nice meal, for a decent price. Fish places are typically $$ on yelp and such, but this place is affordable for those of us too lazy to cook. I don't know about y'all, but I just want simple fried fish, and they got it here, plus you can pick what type of fish from their selection. If you want something fancy, maybe you know, find a nice 5-star expensive seafood restaurant, save up and splurge there. You can also order raw fish to cook at home yourself, which you can just order in person or call ahead to see if they have that specific fish still available. If you order their cooked food, call first; it's still technically covid, save yourself the time waiting in your car or whatever and just order via phone so you can pick it up super quick, at a time that works for you. Plus, they only cook when you order, so it's fresher, but that also means if there's so many people who ordered before you, it'll take a while, so call first for that guaranteed pick up time. Sometimes the phone line is busy when so many people are calling so just wait and try later. They have a 50 cent charge for any credit card orders, and for low ball orders via debit, which is fair, they're not a huge company, my favorite local Chinese food spot does the same thing. They also fry more things like oysters (yum), shrimp, soft-shell crab, calamari and octopus. It takes forever at the moment because of Lent and people's need for fish fridays. For those Fridays, typically you call about 2 hours in advance for a cooked order, I'm guessing it's super long because so many darn Catholics keep ordering, and they cook it fresh when it's been ordered, but hey, when I came to get my order, it was ready and tasted freshly cooked, so I was a happy camper. The fish was nice, meat quality was good to me, not dry, but keep in mind, different fish have different textures, so so your research on what kind of fish you like. It's technically a simple zatarain's style fish fry, so it's not a 5 star seafood restaurant, but I didn't mind the batter, beats fast food and cheap frozen fish fry for sure. Comes with one small side of tartar sauce (and lousiana hot sauce), so if you're a heavy dipper or order a large meal, I recommend getting your own tartar sauce or paying the extra 50 cents for a cup of tartar sauce. They pack the food nicely ventilated with holes, so it won't go bad when you bring it home. The fries are a bit so-so for me, but I like my fries super crispy and cut differently, so that's...
Read moreWell hello . I finally entered the building, I called before and was left lacking the enthusiasm of the business wanting to help with information about what type of fish was on the special for that day. Well as it is in walking distance from my location I stopped in and still got the dry atmosphere with no greeting of any kind, I stood there for a few before he even came and asked what i wanted. With that same tone as I got on the phone! well I ordered anyway. It was a 40in wait until food was ready 4 catfish nuggets and 4 shrimp 🍤. I returned just in time to see him sacking it up so it was fresh hot. To my my surprise it was all battered in the same meal and apparently fried in the same grease so it all tasted the same with same texture. So not what I was expecting or to my liking. Thus I will not be returning. Now. others may like it like that. But I'm a Texas girl so we come correct when it comes to fish and shrimp.! So that's a strong dislike on the cooking! For me. And customer Service is substandard on many levels. So this is Just not the place for me. Try it for yourself is all I...
Read moreGood food but service is slow & definitely not the best. This is the 2nd time I walked in & it felt like a good 2 mins before anyone greeted me at the front counter. I was the only customer they had so I'm not sure why it took their cashier so long to come to the front counter. I also noticed that after I was helped the cashier went back to the back before coming out to help the next person who was waiting after me. The person after me came in just a few seconds after me but was not acknowledged after I was done paying which was definitely odd as most cashiers help the individual next in line right away or at least say that they will be right with them.
On the other hand, the food was quite good. I really liked the shrimp plate & the coleslaw that comes with it. I also enjoy the fried softshell crab. I wasn't a big fan of their macaroni salad or their hush puppies. The hush puppies are slightly spicey. (I think they use jalapenos. They were ok.)
I like the food so I might go back, but just don't expect to be helped right away when you walk...
