Update - Came at 11am on the last Saturday of June, with no snow birds around. What a bliss, not much of a wait. Angela was the host when we got there. She greeted us cheerfully and seated us. She remained friendly even though they are busy. Barbie was our server. She's observant. We don't have to ask for napkins or water. She always checked us to see if we need anything. My husband enjoyed the pig pen omelette but he asked it done without the pulled pork. Coffee was fine and they have an "angel" who goes around to refill coffee . Waffle was on the dry side so probably will not order it next time. Homemade corned beef hash was delicious , a bit salty for my husband's taste though. Check for drink specials too. We missed their lychee mimosas special. Overall, we enjoyed our breakfast. Initial- Took a 24 minute drive to try this place and we were not disappointed. On point on everything we ordered. All fresh cut up vegetables and deliciously properly prepared and seasoned. Not salty and not bland either. A hole in the wall but definitely NOT a run down place. In fact, properly managed with a staff assigned to seat people. We woke up early to be here by 10am on a Saturday .. lol based on reviews of long line. By the time we arrived, there's still plenty of seats I guess because the snow birds were no longer around since it's already in June. Parking was tough by the time we arrived but we got the last spot so be aware of that. From the pictures I attached, you will see that veggies were all fresh, see spinach in the pictures attached , not frozen . We ordered smoke salmon omelette and mine was omelette with veggies. All were delicious. We ordered steel cut oatmeals with our omelettes and again they were great. If only they served or sell real maple syrup, I will try their pancakes or waffle. So I advise you to BYO maple syrup. Server was good. Cleaning staff excellent and importantly they have coffee angel going around to refill your cups. Didn't I mention, excellent coffee? Another advice: Bring earphones if noise bothers like we do but my tummy calls prevail so I see us coming back often. Reservations are limited for party of 6 or more. Management was excellent in attending to complaints which I was very impressed . Yelena I believe was her name who apologized and calmed me down. (nothing to do with me making a reservation)

What a fantastic place! I couldn't decide.... so I had a breakfast sandwich (the sausages! the English muffin! the perfectly cooked eggs!) and... a cannoli pancake for dessert (I'm on vacation). accompanied by great (fresh, hot, delicious) coffee and a spicy and strong bloody mary (I'm on vacation....). I wish I lived here so I could come every week like my parents. I live in Chicago and this is the best breakfast place I've been to. Add to that the very friendly service (Anne is a treasure) and this is a terrific place if you're looking for a lovely breakfast treat. Update: second visit! I had been here once before; my parents are weekly regulars (I live near Chicago). This place is just fantastic. You ask yourself: how good can coffee and an omelet be? The omelet: light and fluffy (haven't seen an omelet like that outside of France- these people Know Their Eggs). Got the Greek omelet- salty feta, fresh spinach and tomatoes- best Greek omelet I've ever had. The coffee- fresh and addictive. The Bloody Mary- spicy! (although if you don't want spice they can do that too) and served in a copper mug so it's nice and cold. In other words, breakfast perfection. And the service....! Ann is warm, attentive, knowledgeable (and makes a really mean Bloody Mary). This place is perfection.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, CONTRARY TO THE REVIEWS. This place got such great reviews we were excited to stop in and have breakfast. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the reviews. I would rate the atmosphere as a one. The acoustics are so bad that you cannot carry on a conversation at your own table. The place is rundown. There's a hole in the floor that someone could easily trip in/over. The seats are torn and will scratch your legs if you are not wearing long pants. (Who wears long pants in a resort town?) We ordered the meat lovers skillet and the way that the server went on about it it sounded like it was going to be a huge breakfast and so us two senior ladies decided to share it. What we received was a small Skillet with two eggs perched on top of what looked like fried potatoes. The meat lover Skillet was supposed to have five different kinds of meat in it but you had to look really really close to find some little shreds of meat. It was $19 for this breakfast and it did not even include toast! We had to pay $2.25 more for two pieces of bread. We asked our server about the amount of meat in our breakfast as we couldn't hardly find any in it. She said that it was all pre-portioned and it looked like there wasn't much meat because we shared it between two plates?!?! WHAT? She went on to state that she did not charge us for sharing plates which they normally do?? We asked about orange juice and she said they have regular and fresh squeezed. I asked about the difference in price. A regular orange juice was nearly $5 and a fresh squeezed was nearly $8! So we spent $22 on the meat lovers Skillet and two pieces of bread and walked out of the restaurant still hungry!

-Overpriced and bad- I went to breakfast this morning, and I will surely never return, attention, you are going to eat somewhere, not to stress, the waitress was out of her mind, she left a glass of water before we sat down, we were two people and she left a glass of water on the edge of the table, and she never said anything, she started shouting the specials, literally shouting! I told her it wasn't necessary for me, I know what I wanted, just so she wouldn't break my eardrum, the pancakes were like rubber, I personally like soft and fluffy pancakes (real American pancakes). Not a hybrid between pancakes and crepes, it was like eating a jelly dough, two eggs with nothing in particular, very messy and poorly presented without salt and a lot of oil. The orange juice tasted good, but they bring it in a bottle, I asked for a glass and they don't have it! They gave me a beer glass. The cherry on the cake was the tremendous hit that the same waitress gave me when I was leaving, she collided with her entire body in a very absurd way, and when I looked at her she said "ah sorry" it's a very mediocre place, to charge what they charge The bill was 60 dollars, for two eggs with pancakes, eggs Benedict and two orange juices, and a half capuchino, oh yes and a very strong hit on my hip …

Review: A Taste of North Carolina at The Hog in the Hen, Lighthouse Point Stepping into The Hog in the Hen at Lighthouse Point feels like taking a delightful culinary trip to North Carolina. The moment you walk through the doors, you're greeted by a cozy, Southern-inspired ambiance that immediately puts you at ease. The menu isn't overwhelming, but that’s its beauty—it's thoughtfully curated, with every dish carefully selected to offer the best of Southern comfort food. The flavors are rich, bold, and downright comforting. From smoky barbecue to perfectly seasoned sides, each dish feels like a home-cooked meal straight from the Carolinas. It's not about having hundreds of choices but about delivering excellence with each plate. Every bite transports you to the heart of North Carolina’s food culture. What truly elevated our experience was our server, Barbie. Attentive without being overbearing, she struck the perfect balance, ensuring we had everything we needed while giving us space to enjoy the meal. Her warmth and professionalism only added to the fantastic atmosphere. The Hog in the Hen isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience—great food, great service, and a space that feels both familiar and special. Highly recommended!

Another trip south and looking for a brunch place to eat while the kids were at Gymnastics practice the Hen and the Hog popped up. I liked the name and they have Mimosas, so that's where we went. Got there, and there were a bunch of people outside waiting... you know that means it has to be good. While we waited, i asked the receptionist lady, taking names, if we could get a coffee while we waited. She was so kind and brought us a cup outside while we waited. The inside is not very big, but they do mive people in and out fairly quickly. They also have a pretty cool outside ding area, but the section wasn't open today. Mike and I got biscuits and gravy, a strawberry cheesecake pancake, and a pigpen omelet with loaded home potatoes to share. My friends got the French toast and a bacon egg cheese breakfast sandwich, which was gigantic. Everything was delicious. They were super busy so our food didn't come directly to the table when it was ready so it wasn't piping hot... but still good. They also have Mimosas, where you buy the bottle and get a carafe of orange juice. Our server was one top of our coffee, drinks and making sure we had what we needed. Everyone was very pleased with the yummy food. Great choice for brunch!
