When I first started coming here this movie theater was a Muvico which opened in 1998. The movie theater had a 50's theme with replicas of 50's cars. At the time everything was nice and new. As the years went on things started to look worn and I gravitated towards the AMC chain which had $5 Tuesday movie tickets and reclining seats. I eventually stopped going and was surprised when someone told me it was now an AMC. My daughter was down and we hadn't gotten together in awhile so we hadn't had the chance to see Avengers: Endgame. We were probably the last people on earth to see it. The AMC Pompano was the only theater we could still find it playing at.
We purchased our tickets through the AMC app for a Sunday morning show and I was pleased to see they were only $5. Even better I had enough rewards to pay for them. When we arrived the first thing I noticed were that the 50's cars were gone. The outside looked kind of shabby from where they had torn everything down and the ground was dirty. Inside the theater it looked nice and newly renovated. The seats in the theater were brand spanking new and they reclined. They were even heated so no more freezing in too cold air conditioning. The heat was actually nice on my back. The aisles between the seats were roomy so you could leave the theater during the movie without disturbing anyone too much. The problem came when the movie started and there was something wrong with the screen. If the screen was bright you could see a kind of glare on it that was very distracting during the movie.
During the renovation they added a Prime theater with Dolby Vision which uses a double 4k laser projectors that can achieve million to one contrast ratio. The premium reclining seats also rumble in sync with the movie. It's the latest thing in theater technology and I looked in on it and it did seem impressive. Evening tickets run around $15 for adults and if there was a movie special enough to me I would pay the premium price to try out the latest and greatest. Besides the Prime some movies are shown in real 3D.
Now that this theater is an AMC with reclining seats I will be back. The rewards program and $5 Tuesdays really helps you save money. They is a PDQ in the same plaza for cheap eats and a lot of other dining options...
Read moreToday we went to watch a 7:00pm movie. 10 mins into the movie a man in his 40s-50s started to walk up and down the steps. Then pausing at certain sections as we looked into the audience. He then sat in my seat where my wife was. I was grabbing food. He got.up and stood next to wife. As I got there, the man was still standing next to our area, looking into the crowd. He proceeded to sit in different seats and walk up and down the steps. Either this man was drunk, high, or had some condition. None the less, we felt very uncomfortable and slightly threatened when he was in my seat as I was away. We decided to leave because of this and called the manager to tell him of what happened and our request for a refund.
Managers name was Alton and he said he could not refund our money since we bought through the app and syste wouldnt let him. He said to call customer service and they would do it with no problem and to provide them with his name. We did, but customer service said they couldnt refund, and that. the manager could have done it. So now we are in a limbo. Frustrating.
Can i mention, as we were waiting for the manager a huge roach decided to walk through the whole counter until the manager got their to kill it. We also notice nothing was done to see about this man who was wondering up and down in the theater.
We had an unfruitful night here at this theater. Besides the limbo of our refund and the wondering man, the theater was also very dirty. The snack counter to order food had garbage and left over straws and white marks on the counter. We also ordered chicken tenders with a side of sauce and. notice when we got into our theater to sit down, the staff forgot our sauce and had to go back down missing part of the movie. The popcorn was also stale. As if it's just been waiting there for the last few hours. These things may be small, but all this was just adding up for the night. A very negative experience.
This movie theater was a 30 min drive for a particular movie we wanted to see, but after this experience, we wont be coming back.
We are still in the process of taking this complaint up board until this...
Read moreI went to see a movie there today that I had planned out for a week. When I went in I had a ticket purchased online. the employee who scanned my phone said I didn't need a ticket even though I asked for one.
I got popcorn and went back to the kiosk to double check what theater I was in. Another employee answered my question telling me that the movie I was seeing was playing in theater 18.
I took my seat, watched the previews, but when the movie started it wasn't the movie I had purchased a ticket for. It was already past the time that my movie had started and even if it hadn't there were no employees around to tell me the correct theater
Not 1, but 2 DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES!! had neglected their one and only job which was to simply get me into the correct theater for my movie. (this theater is so outdated that they do not have signs telling you what movie is playing in each theater)
When I went to the front to complain to the manager I was met with complete indifference.
I don't know how someone as incompetent as Donna ended up becoming a manager but she has no business being in that position. She is absolutely 100% hurting this theaters reputation and the AMC brand as a whole.
When I told her what happened she never once apologized for the multiple mistakes, nor did she ask which employees had neglected their duties so as to prevent this from happening in the future.
In addition she made no effort to rectify the situation. I am a reasonable person. If she had first apologized for the extreme innocence, second offered to reimburse me for the actual money that I had spent, and third offered some other form of compensation for the lost time and disruption to my day off which I had been planning, I would have been frustrated but satisfied that this theater was doing everything they could to keep me as a satisfied customer.
For anyone who has ever worked in customer service these are very basic fundamental principals when correcting a mistake that greatly impacts a customers experience.
Donna has no idea what she is doing and furthermore...
