So I just want to say, if you’re ever in Poncha Springs and need a spot to grab a coffee and/or do a bit of remote work, this café is a gem. I was visiting recently and stopped by looking for a place to work for the week while I sipped on some coffee and had an awesome experience they few days I stopped by.
Riley is one of the baristas there, and she was just incredibly sweet and attentive, not just to me but to everyone who walked in. And Brad, who’s the manager, was equally welcoming and made me feel right at home. Honestly, these two really set the tone for the whole place.
The café itself is beautifully decorated and the view of the mountains around you is just stunning. It's got that perfect vibe where you can settle in, sip on one of their delicious seasonal coffee drinks, and actually get some work done. This might make me basic but the PSL is so yummy! The Apple Fritter Latte was also really good. Trust me, their drink menu is extensive enough that you’ll find something you like, even if you’re picky.
One thing I really appreciated was observing Riley’s honesty with group who asked about food. She let them know they are more of a café with snacks/pastries rather than a full-on restaurant, and even pointed them to a good spot nearby for a full meal. That kind of genuine, friendly service is exactly what makes this place special. And as someone who used to work food service, that stood out to me and says a lot about the culture Brad encourages and helps cultivate.
Long story short: I can’t wait to go back to Colorado for another great cup of coffee and some good vibes. This place has my full...
Read moreWe stopped into Wild Mountain Cafe for coffee and were so glad we did. The coffee was excellent — and coming from my husband, who’s a complete coffee snob, that’s saying something. They offer pour overs, which is always a good sign, and the flavor did not disappoint.
They also have a nice selection of teas and creative tea drinks. I loved seeing options like lavender tea, and everything on the menu featured thoughtful, high-quality ingredients. It’s the kind of place where you can tell someone actually cares about what they’re serving.
Yes, it’s a little on the higher side price-wise, but I think it matches the quality and creativity of what you’re getting. It was so refreshing to find a spot like this out in the more rural parts of Colorado — especially one that skips the usual omelet-and-bacon routine in favor of fresh, inventive options. This Cafe is gluten-free friendly vegetarian friend and I'm guessing vegan friendly. I had the avocado toast on gluten-free bread and the bread was very good! Bread was perhaps from a bakery?-- and not dried out crappy Udi's style GF bread.
Be patient, they're using legit coffee shop techniques to make your drink and it might take a minute to get it. But it will be worth the wait. Good food and drinks happen to those that wait. $10-$20per person is food AND drink per person. Prices are NOT excessive.
Highly recommend stopping in if you’re...

** Updated- we are staying for the Memorial Day holiday, and we came here a second time- Sunday: to the owners/investors: it is a little ridiculous that you guys have one person serving and handling the register on such a high traffic day. That’s disgusting.
I will say that the young lady was poised and try to handle things as best as she can, but you all set her up for failure. She was pleasant while the line piled up. It is just so ignorant to think that one person can...
