Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Poplar Bluff

We got to the restaurant and waited for our appetizer, mozzarella sticks, over an hour. I had to ask our waitress where they were. (3 tables in her area had come in after us, gotten food, eaten and left.) They were good and hot when they finally came out an hour later. The 2nd couple that was seated across from us got their appetizer and food and we were still waiting. I had to ask the manager where our food was - she said there was some mix up in the order. Then 20 minutes later our food arrived to the table and we had to get to go boxes and didn't get to try our food there. My daughter had a 2 week old @ home that needed to nurse every 2 hours. My 2 year old granddaughter got to eat a handful of her fries while we waited on the to go order we placed earlier. Waitress gave it to the wrong table and left it - they told her it was wrong and she gave it to us. She should have never given it to us after giving it to other people. She said she had 2 to go orders back there and must have gotten them mixed up. The manager gave us a discount - 10% - which covered the kids meal. Food was HORRIBLE - ordered the chicken and shrimp without mushrooms (which it had); the chicken sandwich smelled and tasted like raw chicken, my meal was the 4 cheese mac & cheese (little bit of Alfredo sauce - chicken strips on top were decent. $64.13 later with a 2 year old sitting o er an hour an 20 minutes waiting for food. Edited to 4 stars: They have changed the place up and fixed staff issues. Everything was delicious and came out in a timely manner. We ended up having to leave early, and our food was still hot when we got home. The Shrimp Paramesan Sirloin was heavenly.

The past 3 times we've gone the service has been horrible except from Sophia the second time.

This past time the young man at the door tried to seat me and my family at the bar area with a wobbly table. Mind you I had 2 kids with me under 5 and my husband. The bartender tried to tell him he needed to move us and he completely ignored her. Luckily, she moved us anyway. Then when they brought out my child's meal she said it was a hot plate and had a rubber oven holder on to hold it. She wanted me to give a scorching plate to a 4 year old. Then another waitress was obviously bored at work with nothing to do, just standing feet away most of our meal.

The food itself is subpar, don't order the salads. Boneless wings are pretty good and so are the ribs. Burgers are decent but I feel like they aren't big enough and we still leave hungry.

Edited to add: even after Applebee's said they spoke to their associates, we went back on the 30th and they still handed us HOT plates to our kids under 5,not warm, not slightly hot...hot enough i dropped it TWICE trying to move it from out in front of them!..do better, my son about burned his hand and my hand was!. I'm only giving one star because I can't give less. Our experience here was absolutely horrible. After waiting for 15 minutes for the waiter to come to the table, we ordered our drinks and meals. After another 15 minutes, I had to ask another waiter if we could get our drinks, as she was walking by, trying their hardest to avoid us. She brought the drinks to us. Finally, our meals were brought and the quality wasn't much. Mine, however was not brought at that time. (Which is normal sometimes)I had to ask about it and he acted like he didn't forget about it. After my family finished their meals, I still had not got my salad. I asked him if I could get it to go, he told me they're almost done making it. I waited another few minutes and decided I'd just eat something at home and told him not to worry about it, asked for the check. He then brought it to me in a Togo bag and asked if we were ready to check out. Charged my boyfriend for an extra side (even though he came back to the table after we ordered and told him he gets two sides with his meal) and handed me another customers card before I left.... Terrible service. He seemed like he didn't care at all. His entire body language made it painfully obvious that he didn't want to be there. Not impressed at all.... Lost a customer.
