I’ve went here a lot and the taste of the food is great but I seem to have the worst experiences and the establishment doesn’t try and make up for it they just say “sorry.” About two weeks ago I went and they messed up my egg (I eat only egg whites) and I finished my entire Debby’s Special and they still didn’t bring out my eggs. I’m guessing they forgot about it but I still had to pay for it even though I didn’t receive it. I could wait for it and get it to go but honestly what’s the point. Then this past Friday I went and find a big hair in my gravy and was just told “sorry about that,” then handed my ticket. I guess I’ve finally learned my lesson and I’ll stop going here.
Edit: decided to try again because I do like the food. But yet again I was disappointed. The only friendly experience was the cashier who I assume was the owner. The server I had was terrible and so rude when I asked about my order. They waited on a plate of French toast which left the rest cold. We were never checked on again. No refill until the owner noticed and we just got our drinks togo. After trying again I honestly don’t understand how they’re still in business. I use to be a regular coming weekly but I give up...
Read moreWe had not been there for some time due to the smoking. They have remodeled and no longer have smoking.
Our first visit since remodel was for lunch, we sat in the front area, the food was good, the tea was good and we had dessert which we very seldom do. The pecan pie was delicious.
Our second visit was for breakfast. We sat in the back area, we both found it loud, staff yelling across the room, laughing. Laughter is good, could be acoustic but it just seemed really loud. Eggs were cooked to perfection, American fries 👍👍, sausage was tasty. Pancake were light and tasty, syrup👎👎👎runny not much flavor, no syrup slow cascade just disappeared in the pancake and made it soggy.
Now for the worst part, the coffee. I use half and half or cream in my coffee, Jack takes his black. I ask for cream, I think it was regular milk or 2%. I mentioned I wasn't crazy about the coffee but maybe it was the milk, Jack said nope, it's the coffee. Coffee is really lacking, I am hoping I can get hot tea when we go for breakfast next time. We will go back but sit in the front, either bring a bottle of syrup or no pancakes,...
Read moreMyrtles has been around a really long time. They open very early for breakfast but also close around 3 I think. It used to be one of my favorite places to eat old fashion American cafe meals. I haven't gone in a good long while after several visits that were sub par but decided to go yesterday. I got fried chicken, bbq baked beans and corn bread. The beans were really good, the cornbread was overly sweet and the fried chicken was ice cold in the middle. After I looked it over, I could tell it was fully cooked. Which means it was cooked previously and then frozen. I'm not sure if they purchased it precooked and frozen or they precooked it themselves ahead of time and froze it. Either way, I was really disappointed. I'm not sure what's changed but I hope it changes back. Ill probably wait a awhile before...
