Beijing — Restaurant in Poplar Bluff

We have been ordering take out orders for the past several years, usualally 4 items. My wife and I share the various items.

We usually get 3 meals each out any typical carry out order we bring home...

The quality is quite good for a local Chinese style carry out restaurant. It is as good as it gets for this area, but it has a way to go to compare to those "Big City" Chinese Restaurants that I have eaten in over my years on the road as a Regional Sales Manager for the past 40 years.

I have eaten in Chinese in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Houston, Green Bay, Detroit, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and many more cities and towns, so I have plenty of experience eating Chinese food.... That said, Beijing rates in the top 20% of the Chinese restaurants I have had the pleasure of enjoying their food!

From my viewpoint, this is the top Chinese restaurant in the region, hands down. One item we wish they would offer is: Egg Foo Yung which is a BIG favorite of ours that isn't available in this area!!

Their other items are all very good and we continue to frequent this little carry out joint - With Mexican chefs doing the Chinese cooking like they were right out of Beijing China....

I just tried this place out while visiting poplar bluff from Florida. Everyone said its good. This IS NOT "Chinese food" I put that in quotes cause i know all Chinese takeout is Americanized. But this is just weird and gross. There's not much flavor, chicken is dry and the broth is watery. The fried rice isn't fried rice. There's nothing in it. There's no onions, carrots, nothing. The spring roll was burnt. I guess they don't have actual egg rolls. Also for a lunch special it was expensive!! 17 dollars for 2 lunch specials and 2 drinks because the lunch specials dont include drinks. Compared to every other Chinese place I have ever been too, they give you enough food for days.... not this place, for take out you get a little thing of rice. I never complain and write bad reviews cause im not a picky eater but this is just bad. Can't believe they have a 4.3 rating. Sorry guys! Maybe you're trying to be "different" but it's not working...

So there’s two cashew chickens on their menu one is just what I ordered and it’s chicken with cashews and then there’s a stirfry called cashew chicken maybe yes there’s no description. I only saw one cashew chicken on the menu how was I to know that. So be aware that there’s two cashew chickens on their menu one is chicken with cashews and one is cashew chicken and I don’t know which one but one of them is like a stirfry. other ones the fried nuggets and cashews were burnt the brown sauce had no flavor and they took everything back but the crab Rangoon which I took a bite out of and I ate all of the steamed dumplings that were cold.
