Went Sunday evening, at 8:30, for pizza. We were greated by a very rude and irritated waitress. Apparently, it was close to closing. The restaurant was not clean. Tables, booths, dishes were dirty. This made us question how clean the kitchen was? We wiped are dishes down before we would eat off them.We ordered. Are cold pizza came out to table shortly before 9:00pm.We did not complain about cold pizza,or cleanliness of restaurant. We ate one slice and waitress asked to cash us out. That was perfectly fine. We hurried to finished. Fifteen minutes into our dinner the staff came to our table and rudely told us "we had to leave". As you can imagine we were shocked. We asked for boxes to take our meal to go. First, the staff should have informed us that it was close to closing, and we would need to order our food as take out. That would have been okay with us. No one in our party had ever been to a restaurant, where we were seated, half hour, before closing, took our order and 20 minutes into commencing to eat were asked to leave. Wow. First they should have "nicely"informed us when we walked in that they could not to serve us. It was a nice evening for us, but took a turn, after being treated so rudely. We live down the street from the restaurant and have been there many times. We will never go back. The restaurant was in need of a deep cleaning and staff that no the values of customer service. None of us will be back or recommend the restaurant to our friends or others that ask how the restaurant is....
Read moreWe placed an order online for Saturday night delivery. 2 medium pizzas and 1 gluten free, light to regular cheese. We waited 2 hours to have it delivered though we are only about 5 minutes away, which even though that was a super long wait, it was fine because I understand they are super busy. We ended up having 4 of our 8 guests leave shortly after the order was placed, so we called to have one of the medium pizzas cancelled and was told that was no problem and were given a new total. The pizza arrived and there were still the 3 pizzas and we had to pay the original total. The delivery guy was super nice about it and said he would ask to see what could be done about possibly getting a credit since this was an error on Erbelli's part. However, we opened the boxes and there was maybe a pinch of grated cheese on the entire GF pizza (pictures attached). I am the one that needed the gluten free and am seriously disappointed that we had to pay $20+ for the pizza and it wasn't even how I asked. Erbelli's, I would like to see about getting refunded or credited for a future order. We love your pizza but this was such a poor experience for us. Update: Lisa Erb responded to this review (promptly, which was great!) instructing me to contact them to discuss this further. But I have done that twice now, providing my email address, without getting a response from anyone. This poor experience has just gotten worse! Very disappointed. Amazing food, but poor service and response to...
Read moreI will never order from Erbelli's again.
On 6/1/2017 I called and placed an order for pick-up (fairly simple: 3 topping pizza, erbie bread, and a 2-liter of pop). I was told it would take 25 minutes. I arrived after 15 minutes, prepared for a 10 minute wait, and paid.
After going to the counter multiple times to get the status of my food, I was consistently told "5 or 10 more minutes". While I was waiting, people came in to place orders, and left with their food. My food wasn't ready until 8:20... 50 minutes after I had originally place my order. To add insult to injury, they forget my 2-liter. When I asked for it, the person handing me the food stood there and stared at my receipt. I understand wanting to make sure I paid for something, but he was staring at it to check my name as he walked out.
Needless to say, I will not be going back to Erbelli's. No one but the cashier said anything to me or apologized, and no one offered to make anything right. There was not a manager to be found, and the staff acted as if they didn't have time to deal with me even though the dining room was half empty.
This experience was totally unacceptable, especially for a small town business. I go to local places to be treated like a local, and to support my community. There are enough other pizza places in the Kalamazoo area that you would think Erbelli's wouldn't want to treat their customers in a way that will...
