I went here last year in March right before the pandemic. I have an eye condition called anirida that sometimes can make my eye look lazy and I am considered legally blind, aside from that sometimes my eye looks a little different than others, I get around just fine and live a normal everyday life:
Anyway though, I went on a date here and we had wanted to order drinks, the woman told me she would not serve me and immediately I asked her if it was because of my eye, because I had not had anything else to drink that night. I explained to her about my eye conditioner and told her I did not understand if I was not a safety hazard, harassing anyone etc I did not understand why I could not have a drink.
Although I understand that a waitress has to do what they think is best, I was very frustrated that she had chosen to discriminate against me after I had explained this to her, as I had no other symptoms of being intoxicated obviously (slurring my words, falling asleep, being unruly etc) . It was very embarrassing as I did not know the person I was with that well and had not wanted to start off our night having to automatically explain my eye condition or not be able to participate in the drinks we planned to have together.
I was not pleased with the place to say the least and i don’t think I would ever recommend...

The outdoors area is beautiful, it has a beautiful massive tree that must provide great shade during the hot summer months. They have a couple of cornhole games outside which is nice however almost everyone was smoking and vaping all sorts of items and herbs so if you are asthmatic like me, you will need oxygen; we went inside, but because the doors are fully open, and the area inside is small the smell just comes in, this combined with the fact that people who smoke outside and give a big exhale as they walk into the door ugh, we had to leave. The good is really good, the first time I had wings What was that long thing in it? See the picture, I circled it, my son and husband both had burgers and they loved them as well as the fries. I will probably do take out, but the fun of eating out, is actual, ...
Read moreI reconnected with my friend from high school in Portage and he was really excited to have me try the food at RJ's Sports Bar & Grill at 8118 Portage Rd. The bar may not look like much but do not let it’s looks deceive you, the visit was completely worth it. I tried RJ’s Swiss Mushroom Burger and it was one of the largest tastiest burgers I’ve ever tried. The meat was tender and juicy; the lettuce, tomato, and onions were fresh, and the fries were good, too. They also have hot dogs, wings, fried pickles and jumbo shrimp. I hear the cheeseballs are something to try as well. The Bartender was helpful and attentive and sitting on the patio was a serene experience. If you are out in the Kalamazoo area, you need to try the burgers here. Arrive hungry or you may get full before you get halfway done with your meal....
