Horrible experience.
I went in for lunch, sat at the bar and was served by Daren--the Bartender. I ordered the soup/salad combo. I was told they only had clam chowder that day. Fine, I had the chowder. First off the bowl of chowder was lukewarm at best, and I had to ask for it to be heated up. In the heating process my "bowl" was brought back in a tiny cup. Heating it up made half my chowder go away? I had the beet salad which consisted of three ingredients: Beets, arugula and goat cheese. No extras--not too fancy. The salad came on a plate that was completely inappropriate for a salad. No one could eat the salad off the 4" x 6" plate; it would've ended up all over me and the counter so I asked for a larger plate. Also I did ask for bread for my chowder because it doesn't come with bread. I was willing to pay the three dollars no problem, and I asked is it grilled? He said no but I can have it grilled, I said great. Then I hear him tell them kitchen through the window I wanted it grilled I could hear them question it like it was some unusual Request. The bartender said "well, that's how some people are." Not cool to hear the kitchen staff and the bartender being annoyed by simple requests. Between having to have my chowder warmed up, asking for a plate and grilled bread, I could see the bartender was annoyed and very put out. There wasn't many people in the restaurant so it wasn't as though he was busy. I don't think it's too much to ask for hot chowder, a appropriate size plate and grilled bread... Also I shouldn't have to ask for any of those things. If this restaurant had their act together it would simply be done correctly in the first place. (Except grilled bread)
I finished my meal and asked for my check and saw that I was overcharged. When I pointed it out the bartender he immediately argued with me and went and looked at his POS system and figured out a way to justify the charges. Apparently because there was no soup available, only clam chowder it was an extra FIIVE dollar charge for the clam chowder. WHAT? I was not told this when I ordered. When I argued he said, “You have already paid (he ran my card) "I don't know how to explain to to you so you can understand." So rude! So he concluded that (in his mind) I was only overcharged $1 (it was actually $6) He said loudly so other patrons could hear—wow big deal she's worried about a dollar--it's a$1.00"!!! I said, "great enjoy your tip" (again it was actually $6.00 overcharge on what should have been total of $21) Instead of trying to make a customer happy in or de-escalate the situation he he continued to make comments how I was wrong in front of other customers. 3 sheets food service needs improvement and Bartender Daren needs a new line of work or education on...
Read moreI visited portland yesterday(2/19/2022) and stayed at holiday inn at hayden island. After a busy day shopping at woodburn mall, i googled restaurants near me and 3 sheets caught my attention. At 7 pm my family decided to have a nice dinner and decided to try 3 sheets. Google has it listed as busy so i decided to call for reservation, the person that answered said that we have bad connection and suggested to call him back, understandable because his background is very noisy. (Flag #1) When i called back it went directly to voice mail, i made several attempts and same thing voice mail. At 8 pm we decided to try a walk-in. The place is not even full, only two tables are occupied with a total of 8 customers. (Flag #2) since we had a long day and it's late, we decided to stay though the athmosphere is dark and gloomy. We ordered chicken marsala and crab melt. When our order came the chicken marsala is served on top of cold mash potato, the crab melt the size of mini ice cream scoop is dry serve on top of a slice of tomato and burnt toast with bitter taste (not enjoyable) and no melt from which i believed left over from the day service. The french fries serve on what looks like a replica of deep frier basket is just a little bit warm from the warmer all day. Our meal is very dissapointing, we we're serve day left over dishes, not even given an effort to serve them hot. Shari's has way better service than what we were given for the price that we paid. This is a totally a culinary malpractice. Google should remove the note that this place is busy, the person who answered the phone should be ashame of himself for pretending to be a busy and hoping place, on the the contrary this place is dismal. My frustration on this experience is at the peak of my self control. The owner shouls reach out to apologize to me and replace his uncaring cooks(no sense of pride)...
Read moreMy wife and kids and I eat out ALOT! My mom has been a waitress her entire life and has worked at many upscale restaurants. SERVICE is number one. This place, right off the start was far from accommodating. Seemed like we were a bother to be there. There were several tables open. Outside and in and we were told we had to wait for an hour. Which overall, not a big deal. But, once we were finally seated it took a little while to get a server to the table. We have three kids and have always started an order with their food first to get it coming. The server replied to that request, I’m only doing drinks now, I have other things I need to grab first. We were a bit thrown off by that. It just got worse from there. It seemed to be a constant battle asking for things and feeling like we were putting them out by doing so. Then once the food finally arrived like an hour later (wasn’t that busy) we ate, the food was ok, half the menu was missing, no lids for kids cups, butter noodles had pepper all over them. Finally, we asked for the check but we were still Finishing up our meals and about 3 min after dropping the check off at the table they came and asked if they could take that now. It just felt like we were an inconvenience to be there. Trying to rush us out. Disrespectful to say the least. It was our first time there. Won’t be going back. Was trying to have a nice dinner on the river for Mothers day with our three kids. However, it didn’t turn out so well. Time to move on to a new career since the service industry clearly...
