I've driven past Momiji many times and never even noticed it. I found it because I was looking for a local sushi place that's open on Sundays. This sunny Sunday six of us met at Momiji for a late lunch and had a great experience. I ordered the sampler with the blackened tuna sashimi (yum!), some ngiri, a couple of rolls, miso, and cucumber salad. For $32 this sampler is an incredible deal! It fed two of us and we gave away a few pieces. The menu contains more cooked fish than raw, but hey, this is America. My friends ordered a wide variety and it all looked good. I like that they offer mini rolls too. They don't have sake but you can use the crosswalk and get sake at Safeway, as well as finding a restroom. We sat at the outdoor picnic tables inside a wooden fence, and any road noise was quickly forgotten. It's set back from Barbur Blvd by a couple of lanes. The waitress was friendly and the kitchen efficient--our orders arrived quickly. The cook had rolled my wasabi into a ball and pressed sesame seeds into it to make a smiley face. Another woman (the proprietor?) was visible while we were eating and wiped down all the surfaces in the front of the restaurant. It is pollen season, after all. The parking area was in the shadow of a billboard and our cars were nice and cool when we came out. My main disappointment was that I didn't find Momiji sooner! We will be back, thank you!!

This place I would highly recommend. The serves here was very good and nice even though it took me forover for some people in my party to choose what they wanted. They also have good atmosphere and the tables are clean and doesn't take that much time to wait (5-10 minutes for my party). The food was also very good and I hope you guys are able to come her with a party and have a good time as well a I did when I came. Also side note (that doesn't have to do with my review of this place) I would like to apologize for not posting in such a long time but I will be able to start posting agian.

Called ahead to try and order over the phone because I have a shrimp allergy and one of the 2 for one rolls had shrimp. They said they couldn't substitute anything but could leave the shrimp out and asked that I order online and check shellfish allergy so I did. When I got there I asked they double check the order and could see shellfish allergy on the ticket. Definitely had shrimp on it. They acknowledged that and it was obvious they paid no attention to the ticket. They took it away and reappeared suspiciously quickly with one with no shrimp...I didn't touch that roll.

I never leave negative reviews of a business as to not jeopardize them, but my experience with Momiji Sushi at their SW Barbur location demanded I leave this review.

I had placed an order through doordash at 1:26pm for pickup. It said it would be ready for pick up at around 1:45pm, when I arrived there I got an update from doordash that it would be done at around 2:10-2:15pm so I figured I would pass time at the Safeway out front.

My partner goes inside at around 2:18pm to pick up the order but they tell him they will not give us the order because they never received the money we paid from using doordash.

I immediately check my account and the money was charged AND the order went through on doordash, had my card declined the order would not have gone through as those who use these food delivery apps are aware of.

We tell them our account was charged and the order was mean to be ready for pick up at 2:15pm. They show us the screen on their ipad which clearly stated we had been waiting more than 40mins since the order was placed. Regardless, they tell us to call doordash but they will not be making our order because they are closing the kitchen.

This was a day when the heat was pretty bad in Portland, and I acknowledge that, but the treatment we got from their employees was extremely disappointing and rude.

We call doordash right then and there because we were charged. The doordash representative asked to speak to an employee to clarify they had been payed for the order. The employee just said "nobody here accepted this order". The doordash representative let me know someone had to accept the order in order for it to go through but that they would reimburse our money and cancel the order as "the restaurant seems to not want to help you at this moment"

The employee asks my partner for his phone number and told him they would call him in the next two days or so to give us our order due to the circumstances that day (funny as we are still waiting for that call). We knew they would not call anyways, their employees and management do not care to provide decent service.

When we left my partner told me that the employee told him to tell me to "hang up the phone" as I was talking to the doordash representative. This left such a bad taste and worse impression on the employee. Treatment like this should NEVER be acceptable.

I can understand if it was a bad day or any circumstance but to simply not care and not be willing to help a paying customer, tell lies, + be so rude and dismissive is something I can never accept...

I ordered food for delivery from these folks and was really excited to try a new sushi place near my house. I ordered a TON of sushi. I also have a shrimp allergy and diligently read through the ingredients in each roll and only picked those rolls without any kind of shellfish in them. I also noted on nearly every roll that I'm VERY ALLERGIC TO SHRIMP. The sushi was actually pretty decent til I bit into one of the salmon rolls and got a whole mouthful of shrimp tail. My mouth and tongue started itching and swelling within about a minute, and I spent the next 24 hours with terrible stomach cramps despite spitting it out immediately. I messaged the restaurant the next day. This was now well over a month ago. I didn't get a refund, didn't get an apology, no mea culpa, nada. They never wrote me back. This is literally the kind of thing restaurants get sued over, the kind of thing that can legit kill a person, and they couldn't even be bothered to write me back. Never. Ever. ...
