Original Dream Pizza — Restaurant in Portland

A local, high-quality pizza restaurant. Located in a shopping strip in northeast Portland, close to the hospital and an on-ramp for highway 84. This time around, we ordered a large 3-topping pizza, for take out. They have an incredible list of quality toppings and many pizza suggestions in the form of their specialty named pizzas. I ordered their herb chicken, pepperoni, and artichoke. Their chicken is flavorful and shredded... not cubed or cut up. Pepperoni is good like always... but what blew our minds was the sheer amount of delicious artichoke they gave us. It was amazing. We had ordered the pizza to split between two people and have left overs for later. The fact that this pizza was less than 30 dollars and was full of quality ingredients... made us feel happy about the price but very content with the value and taste. Ordering is a little different now during covid but they have it down. You call in to order- be ready with size of pizza or menu items, and have your topping choices ready. Once the order is submitted they'll ask for your card info over the phone... they're excellently prompt about this... so be prepared. When you pull up along side the restaurant you call back and let them know your vehicle type and color and they'll run your food out to you. On this day, just minutes ago, we waited almost an hour for a pizza. When it came, the jalapenos ordered on the side were on the pizza. I am allergic to jalapenos, so my ever-fastidious and caring partner had made sure to NOT have them placed on the pizza. We reordered. Then, my partner, after apologizing for what he thought might have been his mistake, attempted to cajole the person who had taken the order by acknowledging that although he knew that there was no pizza box decorating contest in progress, he would like a box to decorate to promote the business. He was asked "okay, little one, would you like crayons for that"? (After my partner had informed me that this man who took the order originally had not been paying attention to the order my partner had given him, but had been flirting instead with the attractive young lady behind in the line...) My partner was reluctant to deal with this person: in fact, due to recent health issues, was at the verge of tears and quietly left through the back exit. I immediately went to the counter, canceled what at that point was a SECOND order for the same pizza, retrieved the credit card, expressed my extreme displeasure at the treatment my partner had received and, in a voice audible to all the customers in the restaurant, said we would not be returning and that I would not be recommending this usually wonderful place that we have enjoyed numerous times in the past. We have been driving from Seattle to Portland for American Dream Pizza, the only Pizza we will eat for, 36 years. Only a couple times have we been disappointed. We just returned from there, where we went to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We ordered our usual, large, well done, mushroom pizza to eat there. The pizza we were served was not fit to eat. The top of the crust was burned, the dough in the middle was raw and the mushrooms,(ordered extra because love them), were not even cooked and were over-ripe. We asked to have it put back in the oven and they did but it didn't do any good. Not sure if it was a bad night for them, new staff, or oven broken, but we won't go back and are very disappointed. The crust, which we usually love was tasteless, and was underdone, the tomato sauce was plain paste with no seasoning and 1/3 of the pieces had no cheese. Are they under new management or have they changed the recipe? We would like to know and like to express our disappointment in the one pizza we would drive 4 hours to eat. Also, the music bass was vibrating so loud that we had head aches when we left. Oh and we had to bus our own tables and the staff totally ignored us and our displeasure.
