holy moly… just stopped here in passing for lunch during work and i feel like i’ve discovered a hidden gem!! some of the best thai food i’ve had in portland and the staff are so incredibly kind and lovely. i initially was going to take my order to go but decided to sit down because of the cute and comfortable atmosphere. customer service was 10/10, i was immediately served cold water that had a hint of cucumber (so refreshing and just a really nice touch!)
i got a chicken pad thai, no veg, no peanut (5/5) and an order of the potstickers (4/5). the pad thai was fantastic, very authentic and none of that ketchup-y stuff some places have. chicken was also tender and flavorful. the potstickers were also great, nice and crunchy outside with delicious inside.
you wouldn’t believe how shocked i was to find a complimentary mango & sticky rice dish(5/5)in my order! i’ve been craving this for so long and have never been to a thai restaurant has snuck one in for free. it was perfectly balanced and delicious.
this place goes absolutely above and beyond and i’ll be bringing my whole fam back very soon. thank you sivalai...

You would miss the color and warmth within it walls if you did. I was greeted by a small hostess with an infectious bright smile, inviting me and my companion to choose our seating. Several candles illuminate the Buddha shrines and pictures adorn the walls. This family owned establishment lacks pretentiousness, with picnic cloths covering the tables, a single red rose sits in a vase next to your menu. We are promptly served ice water and our server’s sing-songy voice inquires if we are ready to order. What really makes Sivalai stand apart from the slew of PNW Thai establishments is their reasonably priced entrées. I ordered the Paradise Shrimp Curry, (my favorite); & it was filling, leaving enough to fill up a to-go box. I came out victorious with dinner for two, a drink and a complimentary mango rice pudding dessert for a meager 21.98. Sivalia's food is not amazing” however for its nominal cost in our inflated economy, your wallet will be saying...
Read moreThis is certainly a little gem in the neighborhood. I was invited here for dinner, met up with some friends. I have only had Thai once prior to this. The servers were very friendly, happy to help, the food all looked very nice and tasted good. If you want to try some Thai dishes, I think this is a very safe place to start! I loved that their peanut sauce had a hint of heat to it. Everything was very fresh. In terms of the food, I have absolutely no complaints! The menu was easy to read, colorful and prices were great. The overall ambiance could use some help. They could easily fix up the place with some paint, replace a few stained ceiling panels and so on, just minor things that would make a huge difference in eye appeal. They wipe the table with a very strong bleach water so please be careful with your clothing if you notice anything damp or wet. While we were there, the servers never rushed us, there were MANY people who came in to do takeout so that seemed like a big buzz for the business! They do have an outside patio that was not open yet, it would be nice to see what that...
