Portland has a number of highly regarded pizza establishments, unfortunately most of them don't open until 4:30-5:00pm. After a day of trekking to waterfalls my compadres and I just couldn't wait that long and were in need of sustenance! So we chose Ranch, or maybe Ranch chose us, not entirely sure 🤔 but I guess you could say things were pretty serious between us by the end of the day. After perusing the menu we ultimately settled on the #4. The first thing that stood out was the sausage. I'll tell you this much, that little piggy did not die in vain but was used to create something so glorious that it still brings about tears of joy 🥺. It's parents should be proud 🐷. The chiles were a delightful touch and provided a nice spice that quashed the need for chilli flakes. I loved loved loved getting to the middle of pizza where that beautiful dollop of ricotta sat awaiting my ever advancing bites. Then boom 💥 a double shot of cheese that you saw coming the whole time but nothing can prepare for that first taste. Kinda like your first time. This called for a cigarette afterwards 🚬. The X factor in all of this was the homemade Ranch hence the namesake. I can't recall ever having something so remarkable that it transformed me into connoisseur instantaneously. I knew the Ranch was great however about a half-hour later we had wings at another establishment where we were absolutely repulsed by the Ranch provided. I would not have served it to my dog, if I in fact had a dog. Our taste buds from that day forward were forever changed after being treated to the masterpiece that is Ranch PDX's homemade dressing.

I have ordered Ranch Pizza many times and didn't mind paying the high price because it was good. WELL NOT ANYMORE! They either got bought out by some corporate scum, or management cheaped out and replaced good with garbage. I ordered the half Hawaiian and half #4, like I usually do. The sausage which used to be ground and fresh, is now replaced with lumps of frozen processed tasting sausage I would find on a Walmart take n bake. The Hawaiian used to have small tender chunks of pineapple, its been traded out for large stringy chunks you get out of a WIC approved can at Winco. For some reason, it was decided that the red onions should go on raw, as was the basil. What happened to cooking your ingredients? And where did the cheese go? It's all exposed sauce!! This change in quality has made what used to be great Pizza into INFERIOR PIZZA. Have you replaced all your employees with cheaper replacements to save money? Have you cut hours so no one gets health insurance anymore? You know, basic corporate bull crap? Because whatever made you think this change was a good idea, is ridiculous. Ranch Pizza is now just another disappointing Pizza. I will not be ordering again.

Ranch serves Detroit style pizza. I'm a big fan of Ruse Crust Collective on the Vancouver waterfront. A guy on Dining in the Couve recommended Ranch to me saying that it was better and cheaper than Ruse. I ordered my usual pepperoni and jalapeno. The jalapenos were roasted which is normally fine. But these weren't spicy and tasted and felt unusual. They were unlike any jalapenos I've ever encountered. I didn't like them. The pizza came to $30.50 before tip. Ranch has nine slices = $3.38 a slice. Ruse's pizza is smaller with six slices and costs $25 before tip= $4.16 a slice. So Ranch is cheaper...but lacks the bold flavor of Ruse. My take is Ranch is a good pizza. Ruse is a great pizza. The greatness is worth the extra cost to this guy. Check out my profile for more great eateries and craft cocktail bars. ✌🏼

We had a not so great experience with one of the employees there today (Saturday Dec 26th). She was extremely rude to my husband. We got there about 5 minutes early. He went up to the counter and said why he was there. She immediately gave a bad attitude and told us it wasn’t the full 25 minutes yet. Not a big deal, we can wait, but she was pretty awful about it to the point where it felt uncomfortable to wait inside. She just kept saying it’s not the 25 minutes yet, and even though our pizza came out of the oven already when we showed up, it still wasn’t the full 25 minutes - what she was saying wasn’t really the issue though, it’s how she was saying it and how upset she seemed with us. So we asked if we should wait outside and she said, “I don’t care what you do.” Sure, she probably doesn’t but I’m just wondering why there was any reason to be annoyed with us at all. A simple, “You’re pizza is not quite ready but it will be out shortly,” would have been totally fine. I worked in the service industry for ten years and never treated a customer like that no matter how bad my day was. If you hate being in a customer service role then maybe leave? There are plenty of people, especially right now that would love to be working. We love the pizza here but will always get delivery from this point out if we even continue to come here at all. We like to order from relatable and humble organizations, not ones where we feel like our business isn’t...

The three stars are based off of the service or lack thereof I received. After placing the order for the large pepperoni pizza, I was given a number. The number rests on a tall silver number holder very common in pizza places. I stood to the side to organize some of my credit cards and engaged in some small talk with the person working at the counter. after drinking a cup of the complimentary water I asked about how long the pizzas take they said 15 to 20 minutes. At this point the line that had gathered was done ordering and people were seated waiting around for their pizzas. I stepped outside and was not more than 10 ft away from the entrance. After doing some cleaning and organizing in my car I wondered what was taking so long... I walked back in to Ranch where I found the place is pretty quiet because so many people were eating their pizza, people that had ordered after me.. two workers we're basically doing nothing one had a rug wasn't really cleaning the other was bending down, I believe stocking supplies. I walked over to the counter and the guy gave me the pizza knowing full well what I had ordered. Why they didn't come outside and let me know the order was ready is beyond me but I found it very rude and off-putting and that is why they got...
