This was our favorite Chinese restaurant for the past 10 years. But a few days ago we sent in a dinner order for us to pick up. We got a notice that it was ready so we went there and they said that the order was gone and given to a delivery person. We showed that it was a pickup and not delivery. Got home and there was no delivery. We called and they could do nothing for us. I put in a doorpass complaint and heard back from the restaurant that they were sorry for my problem but could not do anything about it!!! UPDATE: they refunded my money after saying there was nothing they could do about it. We thought we’d give them a second chance since they’ve been our favorite Chinese restaurant in Portland for a decade. We got the meal delivered and it came quickly. The potstickers were OK to good. The house special fried rice was weird. It had peas, carrots, and eggs. Usually it would also have pork beef, chicken and shrimp but this time there was no shrimp. What are two pieces of beef and one or two larger pieces of chicken, but none of it chopped up, it was also relatively flavorless. But the real disappointment, what’s the dish that brings us back to them time and time again. The garlic sautéed string beans have historically, been wonderful, even addictive, every time. But this time they had an odd, sweet, fishy, taste, and the beans were slightly mushy with an odd texture. I usually can’t stop eating the beans, but this time I stopped after a couple mouthfuls. Bottom line is we need to find another Chinese restaurant. Very...

Went there for a bday party. My mom had made reservations for about 20 people. When she called to confirm the reservation they asked what everyone was going to order. That was weird. Once half the party had arrived they asked if we were ready to order..again weird. Once everyone arrived they once again rushed us to get our orders in. They started with the table I was at. They took everyone's order until they got to my husband and myself. They didnt ask us what we wanted they just walked away to the next table and started taking their orders. I have no idea if they thought they had taken our order already or what, but they never took it. I didnt remind them either. Luckily I wasnt that hungry. From the time of getting the orders in to the time they reached the table was about 90 seconds to 5 minutes. For a group of 20 ordering food...that's s little too quick for it to be fresh. It had to have been prepared already. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind fast food, I just prefer it at a fast food joint. Also, they serve family style so no rice is served with meals..not even white rice. Fried rice was 10 bucks a plate and white rice was 3 bucks. Oh, and my shoes stuck to the floor. Anyway, I felt very rushed, unfed, and disappointed. I wont be coming back and suggest that others dont go there if you want to take your time, keep your shoes on your feet everytime they lift off the floor...or...

11/2024: Still great. 🤗

August/2024: I guess Sunday evenings are busy times. This time nice and fast and food as usual was great.

4/2024: For some reason they were slammed with customers on a Sunday evening. The staff stayed cheerful and did their best, but it did get a little slow. Food as usual was great.

11/2023: Still our go to spot. Parking (knock on wood) has been better lately. Staff quite knowledgeable about what is vegetarian.

7/2022: Still great. They've repainted etc. Handy they're open late.

Old review:

Every time we go they're great!

Never had a bad meal. Great food. Great staff.

Everything we've had A++. Pepper Salted (had both fish and tofu) is very good. Garlic green beans excellent.

Take out here is a pleasure, if not busy they chat with you.

About the only negatives:

Parking can be bad sometimes, never great.

Bathrooms are not handicap accessible. (Actually I'd say the men's room is in the negative, if you're not handicapped, you might be if you hit the little step wrong).

Editorial note 11/2024: I posted 2 pics of the takeout menu in the menu section, Maps only posted one page there... So I tried again, seems like it just keeps throwing them in the photos section. Not a biggie, but that's why the multiple pics of...

Ordered take out over the phone yesterday and was heavily disappointed in the food and the cost. 1. Take out packaging was terrible. They put chow mein separate from the veggies and chicken. It was pouring out of the container given in, making a mess of the food. Investment in containers would've solved this. 2. The cut of the veggies and meat was horrendous. Huge pieces of broccoli that was HARD and not cooked well. Huge prices of chicken that could've been cut to bite size. Small fixes that would have made the dish better. 3. The price was not justified. Yes $50 for a lot of food is worth it, but when the food doesn't match up to the flavor then portion size doesn't matter. I wasted so much food because of the taste of the orange chicken. It was a very tough meal to eat. Wouldn't reccomend this place when there's more viable options around.
