Terrible and downright hostile service. Went here today after a workout at Hollywood Fitness. At this point I hadn’t been to this cafe in over a year as I previously worked out elsewhere and hadn’t frequented the neighborhood. Unaware of the business hours I pull into the parking spot directly in front of the door and notice that the barista is putting away the sign that was outside. I asked if they were still open, and she said “we’re closing right now”, and then I said “so it’s too late to get a drink I’m guessing”, to which she said “no, I can make you something”. Please note that I was not imposing or pressuring this person to make a coffee at all, she had offered to make one. So I go and ask for my typical drink that I get at cafes, pay, and tip $2 cash like I normally do. Then we both engage in mutual conversation where she is asking me questions and seemingly purposely engaging in the conversation. The coffee drink is finished and then I receive it and say thank you. Then she suddenly changes demeanor and says “you should know that if you want to get served, don’t show up right when we’re about to close”, I mention that “I didn’t know your hours, and was checking it out because it was right next to the gym. You could’ve told me no” She then says “you see me putting things away and trying to close, so you know for next time, don’t show up right when we’re closing if you want to be served”. The tone and demeanor was very unfriendly and confrontational. A few gripes I have with this situation are that I didn’t know that they closed at 4:00pm and had said that, so I was clearly not purposefully trying to beat the clock. I was out of the cafe by 4:01 with my drink. And 3. The barista completely invited me in to order a drink, even though I was fully prepared to get one elsewhere, which in hindsight I would have knowing how terrible the service would be and how I would be guilted and berated for going along with what I thought was someone else’s hospitality.
That was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at any cafe in my 28 years of existence and I will definitely not return here and would strongly advise anyone against patronizing this business unless you want to to risk having a damper put on your day by an aggressive barista. Past experiences here inspire memories of below average, sterile espresso, splintery floors, and...
Read moreNot your standard coffee menu. My cousin asked the barista to surprise her, she ended up with a honey and lavender latte. It was delicious. I ordered Cafe con Miel, basically a salty cinnamony latte. I would order it again. Although I wish it were larger. This place definitely hit the spot for our something different. My cousin and I get together every once in awhile for coffee and we like to try different places. I find a place that sounds interesting or has particularly good reviews that we haven't had before. The atmosphere is your standard coffee house vibe. I would have liked to lounge a little bit more rather than sit on hard chairs, having said that, we did linger. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Large street facing windows made people watching easy. The drinks are a bit on the pricet side. However, I felt like I was paying for quality, rather than some over sweetened coffee drink made by a faux barista. Definitely a place I would return for a treat. I gave four stars for the atmosphere simply because my old bones do not like sitting on...
Read moreThis is my neighborhood coffee shop and I love them. The baristas are so friendly and helpful. I am often caffeine-deprived (and foggy-headed) and they are patient and understanding with me. They never blast their music and mostly everyone here is respectful and not loud. It makes it easy to focus.
I am in a rigorous school program that requires lots of studying and writing and this has been my oasis of productivity. I appreciate they have strong wifi and coffee, as well as plugs to sit down with my laptop without worrying about a dead computer. They only thing I wish they would have a better selection of is food because I would stay here all day and eat while I work, if I could. It would be so nice if they had sandwiches or something more than just pastries. I do appreciate that they have brought in a vegan scone, though. They used to just have a vegan cookie and muffins. Perhaps it is best that they don't have more food options because I would only do my homework and studying here. Overall, this is a solid place to study and their...
