Yikes. I'm not sure if the employee was just having a bad day, but I haven't been talked to so condescendingly in a very long time. When the first thing out of the employees mouth is, "I'm going to stop you right there..." after ordering a decaf mocha since the menu said they serve mochas, only to be told that they don't have espresso, I assumed she meant espresso that was decaf. Cool, no worries, normal coffee will be fine for that. But then when I tacked on an Americano she acted like I was the densest human being on the planet because she felt I didn't understand the difference between espresso and regularly brewed coffee. Obviously, there was a miscommunication - doesn't mean you have to ride that high horse.
EDIT: After reading the owner's response, I just want to make one thing clear. It wasn't the fact that they didn't have espresso that made me leave this review - I love a good coffee in all forms and would not have minded ordering a regular cup of joe. It was the attitude of the employee talking down to me like I shouldn't have been ordering in the...
Read moreI really wanted to give this place 5-Stars. In terms of atmosphere it most definitely is. It’s a really cute little shop space w tons of local artists wares (which is awesome!).
The knock off for 2 stars comes w the coffee I ordered. They only offer oat milk, which is a bummer, as it’s my least favorite milk for a latte. Also the barista seemed somewhat inexperienced, it wasn’t super busy during my visit but each order took 4-5 mins to make.
On top of that, the coffee I was served was WAAAAAAAY TOO HOT!!! I SCORCHED my tongue. I’ve burned my tongue here or there on a hot bev before, but this was the hottest latte I’ve ever been served, like McDonald’s lawsuit lady level HOT. Usually at most coffee shops there’s a good little layer of foam before getting to the hot stuff, but the oat milk foam was super watery & barely existent & just got straight to the scorching hell coffee.
I likely won’t be back to order coffee anytime soon, but I will be back by to peep the artist wares bc they...
Read moreA charming little bakery cafe and collaborative marketplace in Montavilla where sweet surprises abound. My last visit brought me during the middle of strawberry season, and my only issue was deciding which amazing treat to choose. There was fresh strawberry shortcake and strawberry soft serve ice cream and it did not matter that I've already had my fill of strawberries due to the time of year. Eventually, I decided on a homemade strawberry oat milk with the power to change my overall outlook on life for the better and at a very minimum, cause me to forswear the pink powdered mix for the rest of my days. Bonus points that I can support other local micro makers and artists while I'm there. I picked up a pretty amazing jar of orange marmalade made by Sebastiano's across the street and am eyeing some of the oversized strawberry applique sweatshirts...
